Um, Mr. Mankins? Please take note

According to Bob Kravitz at IndyStar, Indy players Robert Mathis and Reggie Wayne are having some difficulties with their contracts.  However, neither have let that interfere significantly with their contribution to the team; both have shown up for training camp.

Wayne is quoted:  "The gist of this whole thing is, I'm underpaid," he said after the team's first practice. "If you want to go on numbers, go on numbers. If you want to look at leadership, look at leadership. Either they understand that or not. Either they respect that, and accept that, or not."

Sound familiar?  Granted, both have already signed contracts that were big at the time of signing, but have since been surpassed.  In this, the Mankins story differs.

However:

They showed up for the first practice of Indianapolis Colts training camp because they are professionals, because after Mathis and Wayne held out of offseason team activities and minicamp unhappy with their contracts, this is the job they are contractually obligated to do.

"This is bigger than me," Wayne said after the morning practice.

"I made my statement and now we move on," Mathis said.

Your move, Mr. Mankins.
