Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

A few others on there as well, but great to see Crable making an impact in practice. Is it too much to hope he'll be contributing on the active roster soon? We only have three OLBs and, if I'm not mistaken, the Maroney trade frees up a nice roster spot for him.

Nice to see some love for the practice squad scout team

Wonder who’ll get it after the Jets.

Keep the faith!

crable- "practice player of the week"

Sure is nice to hear anything positive about Shawn Crable- just imagine his potential rushing the passer as well as giving added depth to the position- however let’s wait to see if it ever happens. Still, a positive note, nevertheless. On a side note…hope they sign Mankins soon..speaking of depth, huh?

Were I to guess...

he probably got rewarded for doing his best Antwan Odom impersonation in practice and getting the O-line some reps in that kind of pass-rusher.

I'm not sure there is an available roster spot

Ojinaka comes off suspension, so the Pats were going to have to get rid of someone anyway.

They cut Marques Murrell to allow Ojinakka in

So the trade of Maroney opens up a spot again – either for Murrell, Crable, or someone else.

Yeah, I forgot about that

I suppose Crable would be an option — we definitely need another OLB. I just can’t get excited about Crable after two years of IR and not being able to pass his conditioning test this year. I think if we’re going to bring in a familiar face, it ought to be Burgess; let Crable prove himself on the practice squad for a while before elevating him to the roster instead of someone else and watching him go on the IR again with a hangnail or something equally ridiculous.

Burgess is a possibility, too

Although that could depend on whether they cut him so he wouldn’t have a guaranteed salary for the season, or whether they cut him because he’s just not effective. From what I gathered, it sounded more like the latter.

If it was that simple, he might not have survived last season

Until the last couple of games, he was far from worth the two draft picks we gave up to get him.

Then again, he may just be done.

Mhmm, I'm not sure he was mentally geared up for it

Remember, this is the guy who said he was done, didn’t turn up to camp until late, and then didn’t seem to give it 100% when he did arrive. If his heart isn’t in it, it’s pretty hard to see how being cut would help motivate him now.

Lets not put the cart before the horse...before the wheels are on the cart...before the spokes are on the wheel....

Crable + PPoW = Good.
I look for Crable + PPoW part two and three before I look for him on the active roster.

He was cut for a reason, and as much as I like him I refuse to allow him to tease me further until I see more

i don’t want him on roster until they are ready to actually play him

the patriots aren’t in some desperate situation so i’m really laid back about whether they play him or not

i will anoint him for the “patriot tease” award

Part of it was seeing if Maroney passed the physical.

Otherwise, he would still be on OUR roster.
