NFL Roster Cuts: Patriots Release Three More
The Patriots are continuing to trim their roster down to 53 players in advance of tomorrow's 4 PM roster deadline. Tight ends Carson Butler and Rob Myers have been released, along with veteran offensive lineman Eric Ghiaciuc.
Butler and Myers were expected to be released, although Myers impressed me at time with his play during the preseason. If Myers can clear waivers, I wouldn't be surprised to see him land on the practice squad.
The Patriots signed Eric Ghiaciuc early in August as an emergency option along the interior line. While he didn't look terrible, he didn't look great either. With guard Dan Connolly playing well, and with plenty of young prospects also around, there wasn't much of a need to keep Ghiaciuc around.
Expect the cuts to keep trickling in over the course of the next 24 hours. The Patriots are now down to 71 players.

I anticipate the PATS acquiring a veteran DB and/or a veteran OLB
as other teams cut their excess. It’s bargain time, and BB will maximize his opportunties. The guys the PATS release are mere casualties at positions that are stable and have depth.
As Hoodie says...
“anyone who makes the team better”…
I’d add O-line to the list of places the Pats might look for upgrades in depth.
Token southern hemisphere guy - 14,688km from Foxboro. That's 9128 miles, for you heathens.
Indeed. I believe they have Mankins' money available... ???
I assume that his offer is still factored into their cap allotment for this season. If so, and Mankins shows no potential for signing, is this dollar amount available to spend?
