I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

Maroney? Are you kidding?
He’s becoming less and less of an enigma. I hope I’m wrong.
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead
Moss
does he have a illness called contractitines (yes i know i butchered that spelling)?…hopefully he doesn’t have the sever case like Mankins

This is a contract year for him.
You can bet your house on him showing up and playing hard, at least through the regular season. I believe he’s still championship-hungry enough to give it all he’s got for a ring, too, regardless of his contract.
It sucks to see Edelman out....
But I am excited to see Moss, Welker, Tate, Gronk all running routes on the same play. Those are some options.
Tom Brady QB (Right Shoulder)
Ah, it’s football season again.

The first sign of fall...
…TB’s on the injury report “with a shoulder.”
Let the love begin.

It occurs to me I missed a prime opportunity for humor.
Can we all pretend I acted really panicked?
“What? I hadn’t heard anything about this! What happened?! Is it serious?! Should we be worried?!
WHAT IS WITH THE BOSTON INJURIES?!"

Classic misinformation?
I mean, it takes so much more work to game plan for Brian Hoyer instead of Tom Brady, even if you absolutely know Brady’s going to start all regular season games…
Can Abbrederis shoot the long three and effectively distribute the ball to his big men?

For all the crap we give Wil Wheaton, he can still tackle better than Asante Samuel...

Nope, it's not misinformation...
I think it’s more like report against jinxis.- :) For years (at least 3-4 but maybe more) Brady was reported as “right shoulder, probable” before every single game. Then the first time he was taken off from the injury list was the game in Septem 2008 against Kansas City. I wonder what happened…
And because Brady had history with his shoulder(even surgery), and probably every QB feels at least a bit the throowing shoulder…That’s my guess. :)
Note to add: After his return in 2009 Brady was reported for every single game “shoulder, probable” last year. Guess it helps my argument, but you do the math. ;)

I think they're building a Frankenstein's monster!
I count two feet, two ankles, a hamstring, two knees, a thigh, a groin, one back and one right shoulder. No parts wasted.

Haha, no head - but maybe that's a good thing. He won't have to worry about concussions

I like the part that says "What Should I Do If I Think I've Had A Concussion"`

Bills fan here with your new TE Gronkowski
who is your starter?
"Hold ya chin up...nuh nuh nuh...gone" -Marshawn Lynch-
Absolutely no idea
The Pats do strange things with their ‘starters’, especially at TE. Last year Baker and Watson split starts, based entirely on whether they opened in run, pass, or 2TE.
This year, the Pats could well start with Gronkowski, Hernandez and Crumpler all on the field at once. Or they could mix-and-match to suit, either in a 2TE set or with Hernandez in the slot as a big-WR.
I’d expect all three to get starts at some point, but it won’t be as a set #1, #2, #3 deal. It’ll be situational, and even if someone gets a ‘start’, they might not get the highest percentage of snaps in the game.
I realise this doesn’t help answer the question, but it’s really a reflection of how Belichick offers packages that suit down-and-distance and player matchups, so it’s not a set deal week-by-week.

My suggestion is they'll all get reps
Crumpler is the primary blocker, so he’ll be on for running downs and anything play-action. Gronkowski will factor in as a pass-catcher and blocker, so he’d get a significant workout. Any Red Zone passes will likely go his way. Hernandez is unusual in that he’s lining up at WR a lot of the time, Dallas Clark-style. However, he’s been hurt for the last few weeks and might be held out from significant game-time at least in the near future.
If it’s any indication, they all seemed to split reps in the preseason, and all did pretty well. Crumpler was a great blocker and still came up with a half-dozen crucial receptions. Gronkowski got a few looks and snagged 4 TDs in the last 3 games – in the first he was primarily used as a blocker. Hernandez got a couple of TDs in the first games, and then was hurt, meaning Gronk was used more as a receiver. If Hernandez is 100%, that might mean Gronk is more of a factor blocking than as a high-yardage receiver. However, at 6’6", Gronk’s still going to be a TD-maven in the Red Zone.
All-in-all, I suspect Hernandez will get the most receptions and yardage; Gronkowski the most TDs. Crumpler might end up with the most snaps, but it’ll be close – the Pats used a lot of 2 and 3 TE sets in preseason.

Are the available players confirmed by the injury listing?
I am never clear on this.
Will Edelman and Maroney play this Sunday – or might they play this Sunday?
Or, are both already declared out for Sunday?
All it talks about is practice
Who was kept out of practice, who had limited participation, full participation, etc… It can probably be inferred that if a player doesn’t practice all week, there’s a good chance he won’t play on Sunday but it’s not definite.
Keep the faith!
They've been keeping Tate quiet
Edelman was game one
Hernandez was game two
Gronkowski was game three
Lets not talk about the Giants game…
They haven’t really given Tate the ball much but you saw that move he put on the Falcons guy when he got the ball deep in the backfield needing 16 and he got 17….this guys gonna explode…
Tate is a RB who who excels at WR. Look at him from the point of view of what he does after he catches the ball. This is also how you also differentiate Edelman from Welker.
eh... I would say Tate is a KICK returner at WR. Not really RB.
And yes, he is amazing at Kick returns when he was in college, and he looks to still be explosive. Once he catches the ball, that Kick returner instinct becomes active, and I smile afterwards. :)

Welker was a running back in high school.
In college, he was used the same way that Faulk is for the Pats. A catching threat out of the backfield. He also did blitz pick-up. He also split wide. His numbers: 259 receptions for 3,019 yards and 21 touchdowns and 79 rushes for 456 yards (5.7 YPC) and two touchdowns.
So whether he was a running back that caught or a wide receiver that can run, to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.
Edelman was a scrambling QB from high school on, and was the leading rusher in his college gaining 1,551 yards on 215 attempts (7.5 YPC) and scoring 13 touchdowns.
Tate was a wide receiver / returner from high school on. I haven’t seen anything that would suggest he was a running back. He’s a returner and they share some of the same traits in the open field.

Could be. We'll see over time, I guess.
There’s two sides to Welker’s success. Yeah, he is usually one of the league leaders in YAC, but he gets open. A lot. On the same stinking plays that teams have reels upon reels of film. That, IMO, is the real secret to his success. Sure a 5 yard pass + 5 YAC is nice for moving the chains, but if you don’t do it consistently, you’ll never score.
If Edelman and Tate can duplicate that ability to get open, the Pats will absolutely dominate teams. Without that, you’re looking a some highlight reel shots. Pretty and all, but not what you want to watch in January.

Welker and Edelman are shifty - they make the first guy miss and get YAC by evasion
Tate’s a burner, a KR who’s just learning the intricacies of WR now. He’ll get YAC by pace and cuts at speed, not by jinks or body control per se.
At the bottom end, Tate will be like Bethel Johnson – he’ll snag a few long TDs, but won’t significantly produce. He’ll be a deep bomb threat. At top end, he’ll be a useful WR with a high top-gear and ability to stretch the field, something like Lee Evans or Torry Holt. He doesn’t have the size of Randy Moss, but he’ll find a way to be useful and productive nonetheless.
