All In A Snap: Matt Katula

"Since Katula joined the Patriots midway through the 2010 season, near perfection has followed. Three pieces of the puzzle who were all new to the Patriot family; free-agent place kicker Shayne Graham who was signed after Stephen Gostkowski was put on IR, rookie punter Zoltan Mesko with the huge leg and zero NFL experience, and Katula found themselves needing to mesh quicker than hair gel setting on Jimmy Johnson’s head. Since the special teams trio has united, the Patriots have been 12-12 on field goals and 35-37 on extra point attempts. Heading into the playoffs, when one slip-up can cost the season, Coach Bill has to feel good about his trinity of special teams excellence. The interesting part about it is in the era of inflated egos and salaries, Katula is a perfect fit in the "family" that the Patriots. He is a blue collar player who requests no attention toward himself and simply goes about his job, perfecting his craft.
