Brace to IR, Washington Released
Today, the Patriots announced two roster moves.
First, and as expected, the Patriots officially place defensive lineman Ron Brace on injured reserve with an elbow injury. The move brings the Patriots down to 53 players and allows for the return of inside linebacker Brandon Spikes from his four game suspension.
Second, the Patriots released former University of Alabama defensive end Lorenzo Washington from the practice squad. Hopefully, this means that more bodies are becoming healthy along the defensive line, where the Patriots have really been banged up the last couple of months. There's no word yet on how the Patriots plan to use the vacant practice squad spot.

What's wrong with Jarvis Green? Assuming he's healthy and in shape he should be able to step in at least as well as Eric Moore

Good question
I heard him do a radio segment recently where he said he still doesn’t know why McDaniels cut him from the Broncos. Said he felt he had a solid camp and expected to be a starter and has no idea what happened. Then again, he also mentioned something about his health not being 100% or something at the same time, so it was a bit vague on both ends.
I read somewhere
That it was purely performance related. I hadn’t read anything about his health or fitness, just that he was playing poorly and below the level we would get from guys like Kyle Love and Landon Cohen who we already have.

right, but the strange thing is, is that 2 of the guys we are looking at
are 4-3 guys. Maybe BB is thinking of that option at some point, but according to Jarvis, if I can remember correctly, he is healthy now. I say bring him in. Can’t hurt to see what he’s got in the tank. A guy who knows the system. Granted a guy who I like but wasn’t torn up to see go because he definitely underachieved his last year here. Still, with some fresh legs and his experience, why not?
I feel like by this time of the year you go with what you have
You don’t have any games left to allow guys to get acclimated. The only real reason to bring someone in at this point is if you don’t have anyone to replace Brace and Deadrick, but we do. Jarvis would obviously know the system but he also hasn’t played in a football game in four months. I just don’t think we are that desperate yet.

This may explain why Deaderick was a healthy scratch for several games this year
It seemed like he was contributing early, and then all of a sudden, he wasn’t playing at all. A prevailing theory is that he has not had the focus for whatever befuddling reason, and has missed or been late to meetings and hasn’t shown the desire for preparation and things of that nature. Again, for some befuddling reason, he didn’t get the message. He could have some personality/maturity issues. It’s a shame. Like Brace, not a game changer, but a guy who could have given good depth on the line, and has shown flashes of solid play. I am definitely concerned about the line. not good.
I should amend that a little, Eric Moore has had a pretty awesome 3-4 game stretch, so Jarvis could step in and help.
But I wouldn’t necessarily expect the forced fumbles and sacks off the bat.
