Second Installment of this series, and I'm kinda bored due to the bye week. So I decided to participate in a MTD draft. The Patriots control the draft, and after making a few trades, in the first two rounds, I got Cam Heyward, Ron Hudson (a guard), Von Miller (OLB) and Jared Crick (DE.) One thing I was surprised about from the draft was the jump on OT's. Two were already gone by pick 17, and this is supposedly a bad OT draft. Analysis of who I want after the jump.
Von Miller 3-4 OLB is a guy who Mike Mayock loves. If that isn't enough for you, let me give you a description of him. He is 6'3 245 and the only good player on his team. Even after he was injured all year, and double teamed, he got constant pressure on the QB and was good in run support. We'd need him to bulk up a little bit to make him better against the run in the NFL, but this is your guy for all the people who say we need a bigger pass rush.
Gabe Carimi- OT from Wisconsin, won the OLinemen of the Year award. Is golden in pass protection (gotta be for Tom Bradt) and very solid in run blocking. Smart player, talented player, and a guy who could easily play RT or LT, depending on if Vollmer progresses even more. Is probably one of the safest bets from this draft.
Stefen Wisniewski- C from Penn St is the top center in the draft. We need some form of O-line support inside in this draft with so many questions in terms of who will be here, and this guy can play all of the inside O-Line positions. Personally, I would prefer to get Brewster next year (a C) and get Carimi this year, but if we go in a different direction, this guy is a Patriot type player, blue collar lunch pale and a guy who gets the job done.
