His stats were down this year bc he got a lot of double teams.
In the most crucial games of his career he has shown up to dominate the other line
USC in 2009, in the Rose Bowl 2010, in the Miami game 2010, in the Iowa game 2010, in the Sugar Bowl 2011.
Don’t even try to bring up the example of Watt owning the Buckeyes LT and RT. They purely suck esp the RT-Shutgart. You know your LT and RT sucks when they get owned by 4-3 DE’s from Marshall and Eastern Michigan.

There is a BIG different in the style of Cam and JJ. Cam is not a gap shooter. He takes his blocks and disengages them to get to the qb or the rb. The Sugar bowl was a fine example of that.
JJ Watt is a gap shooter. Watch his style of play.
Both will and should be in a 3-4 Defense. a Gap shooter like Watt fits a 1 gap 3-4 defenses. Cam fits the 3-4 2 gap systems in the nfl (all of which is run by BB disciplines/ coaches under him)

go watch the game film. I’ve watched 26 games from the last two years of Cam and i’ve wanted him on this team since sept 2009 when the dominated the USC game (they lost)

I'm probably going to compare apples and oranges here

But look at Odrick when he was at PSU. He’s similar to Cam as they both are 2 gap guys. The difference was even though JO got double teamed, he still made a huge impact. USC triple teamed him at times in the Rose Bowl.

I know that NE DE’s do usually just eat up their blocks, and yes Watt does shoot the gap, but I see him making a little bit more of an impact in NE. We need a high motor guy like him. Look at big Vince. He’s high motor, I just don’t exactly see it in Heyward. I have that gut feeling hes going to be similar to VG.

I was a big fan of JO last year

Def wanted him.
You can’t just take a guy who shoots gaps all his life and switch him to a 2 gap hold up blockers type player. Look @ Mike Wright. He has been in the system for 3 years (my 2nd fav player @ NE) and while he might be good in passing situations, He is a big liability in the run game. Teams love to run at where he lines up. Wirght is still a gap shooter w. us.
