Patriots Inactives: Chung, Price Won't Play

Patriots DE/LB Jermaine Cunningham is returning to action for the Patriots after being a healthy scratch for two straight weeks.

Here are the Patriots inactives for their week ten game against the New York Jets:

Patrick Chung, S

Dane Fletcher, LB

Brandon Spikes, LB

Taylor Price, WR

Ryan Mallett, QB

Donald Thomas, OL

Shane Vereen, RB

The big names that will be missing tonight are Taylor Price and Patrick Chung - both were game time decisions.  The Patriots have been trying to work Price into the receiving game lately, but a hamstring injury sustained before last week's game against the Giants has been holding him back.

Patrick Chung hurt himself late in the game against the Giants Sunday, and was listed as questionable with a foot injury.  Chung tried to give it a go before tonight's game, but simply wasn't deemed healthy enough to play.  With Chung out, the Patriots will be relying on James Ihedigbo, Sergio Brown, and Ross Ventrone at safety. Gulp.

Jermaine Cunningham, Kevin Faulk, and Shaun Ellis - three players who missed last week either do to injury or being a healthy scratch in Cunningham's case, will all return to action.

Not that it inspires more confidence, but Sterling Moore will be out there at safety too.

Jeez. Sergio seems to either have great days (though rare) or abysmal days, so here’s hoping it’s the former and he and Digs stay healthy. And that McCourty, Arrington, Adams and Molden have their best games possible.

Luckily it’s the Jets offense and they don’t really care you deep, but this is the worst safety unit I’ve seen in a long time dress for a game.

Sterling was impressive in the preseason and in camp with the raiders.

can’t wait to see him, but its his first start, so don’t get your expectations up too high..

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

I don't know if NBC is on crack.

But they said Jeff Tarpinian and Sterling Moore are starting. I don’t know if they meant active for but they said first career starts for both.

This is terrifying. I love Tarpinian and don’t know much about Moore but this is madness.

That's reassuring...

Now excuse me while I go check if there’s enough alcohol to get me through this game.

Kraken Rum

Tonight may be a good time to try so I can stay tranquil. Kraken Rum or Propofol – I’ll let the coin toss decide.

its a weird year...

seabags beat the ravens, cards beat the eagles, would a houston/49ers superbowl surprise anyone? Alex Smith hoisting the Lombardi? Its madness. Nothing tonight would surprise me.

I actually agree and think it could end up being fun.

Let the young guns fly around a little bit and have some fun. The Jets haven’t planned for guys like Moore and Tarpinian, maybe they’ll surprise people and show some stuff. Fletcher played great last year, Tarpinian could do the same. Brown had some moments last year, why not Moore?

It’s against all rationality, but hey – let’s see what the boys can do and look at it optimistically. Yes, my attitude has changed completely in five minutes.
