Patriots vs. Chiefs: McCourty, Chung, Faulk Among Those Inactive

Stay connected for news and updates

The New England Patriots have announced their inactives for their week eleven match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs:

Ryan Mallett, QB

Kevin Faulk, RB

Dane Fletcher, LB

Brandon Spikes, LB

Jeff Tarpinian, LB

Devin McCourty, CB

Pat Chung, S

My initial thoughts on the list:

  • Disappointing to see that Patrick Chung can't play.  While Devin McCourty was listed as doubtful and it would have been a real surprise to see him suit up, I really expected Pat Chung to give it a go.  Chung has been a game-time decision the past two weeks with a foot injury.
  • Kevin Faulk looks like a somewhat healthy inactive for the second time in the past three weeks.  The team will run with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley, and Shane Vereen at running back.  Faulk was listed as questionable with a knee injury.
  • Linebacker Jeff Tarpinian, who started last week for the first time, will miss tonight's game due to illness.  Gary Guyton will likely take his place at linebacker.
  • Shaun Ellis will return from a ribs injury for the first time in two weeks, while rookie Marcus Cannon will make his debut after being activated from the NFI list last week.  Receiver Taylor Price, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, will also return to action.
