Week 12 Patriots vs Eagles: Patriots Inactives

In addition to downgrading wide receiver Chad Ochocinco to "Out", the Patriots have downgraded cornerback Devin McCourty, safety Pat Chung, and center Dan Connolly to "Out". Add in the already-out linebackers Brandon Spikes and Dane Fletcher, and there are six players already listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Include the typically inactive quarterback Ryan Mallett and those are the inactives for Sunday.

In order to compensate for the injuries, the following depth moves will have to take place:

WR Chad Ochocinco > WR Taylor Price - Price has to star in his debut, unless Julian Edelman has earned more playing time on offense.

CB Devin McCourty > CB Antwaun Molden - Molden isn't much of a drop off from McCourty, and Phillip Adams provides additional depth.

S Pat Chung > S James Ihedigbo - Ihedigbo more closely resembles Chung's style of play, but S Sterling Moore could be considered the replacement.

C Dan Connolly > C Ryan Wendell - Wendell is the last center on the depth chart, so the Patriots cannot afford any more injuries.

LB Brandon Spikes > LB Jerod Mayo - Mayo slides over to stuff the run, while Gary Guyton steps into Mayo's old spot.

LB Dane Fletcher > LB Tracy White - Fletcher provided depth on defense, but White should step up and help on passing downs.

QB Ryan Mallett > 3rd QB - Emergency.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they only have to have 7 inactives to get to 46.

Or at least have been doing that in the past (http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4710062/chung-mccourty-inactive-for-patriots). A little different this year. So, we should be done after Chung, McCourty, Spikes, Fletcher, Ochocinco, Connolly and Mallett. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the usual Ventrone promotion, just not sure whom we can afford with our shortages on the OL (usually it’d be Donald Thomas). That’s still probably my guess, rolling with the starting 5 and the 2 rookies.

I'm really looking forward to Chung, Fletcher & Spikes getting healthy

If the Pats can win without them, all the better, but I miss them out there.

Keep the faith!

Thank God Vick and Maclin aren't playing. McCoy will have a feast though.

Price will finally get his shot

if he gets 20 snaps I expect some good production out of Price

Taylor Price will be the starter by the end of the season (Said before Training Camp)

What's up really?

I had the impression he might be in there for the Jets game but apparently this foot injury is not healing as expected.

This will be tough without Chung and McCourty in the long run. McCourty might have been a disappointment but he has such upside so I find it hard to believe he won’t get out of the slump if given playing time when he returns.

As we all know Spikes is very valuable. He’s somewhat of an emotional leader as well (together with Chung and Wilfork).

If he broke his foot...

…they might as well wait until he’s full healthy.
