NFL Week 12: Early Games Thread

Feel free to use this post as an open thread for today's 1:00 PM Game:

With the New England Patriots playing in the late afternoon at 4:15 PM ET against the Philadelphia Eagles, here are some games to monitor on the early slate of games:

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars: This will be the Texans' first game without Matt Schaub, with Matt Leinart stepping in to replace him.  The Texans and Patriots are currently tied for the second seed in the AFC, both a half game back (one win) of the Baltimore Ravens, who beat the 49ers on Thursday night. Greg's Prediction: Texans 17 Jaguars 6

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets: The battle of the second place in the AFC East will feature two teams that are .500 and on two game losing streaks.  The winner of this game would appear most likely to challenge the Patriots for a playoff spot down the stretch. Greg's Prediction: Jets 24 Bills 10

Other 1:00 PM Games: Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers at Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tennessee Titans

I'm gonna be watching the Jets-Bills game

Hopefully the Bills can knock the Jets around and effectively push their playoff hopes out of the picture.

The only team I want winning BUF@NYJ

is the New England Patriots.

Speaking of which, is this game "must-win" for both teams, or "must-not-lose"?

If it’s “must-win,” shouldn’t we be rooting for a tie?

That should have been intercepted

regarding Sanchez’s ill-advised pass into traffic.

Touchdown Bills!

Oh man, I can just feel the anger spewing from GGN that an “inferior team” is not just hanging around, but took the lead!

Sanchize so far: 4/10, 20 yds

Unfortunately, 1 TD instead of 10 INT’s. . . .

They'll probably use Schottenheimer as a scapegoat

and fire him, giving one more year of Rex Ryan and Sanchez.

I'm okay with that, though I'd prefer they kick Rex out since he actually seems competent.

So long as Sanchez is there, though, I’m happy.

Both. There'll be plenty enough to spread around.

Ryan: Promising checks his team couldn’t catch.
Sanchez: Regressing to his unspectacular mean.
Schottenheimer: Worst. OC. EVER. (Makes ours look halfway competent!)
Johnson/Tannenbaum: Not actually helping build a strong team.
OL: Turnstile.

Does anyone else think Stevie Johnson mocking Plaxico

by dancing in the end zone and shooting himself in the leg, is the best TD dance since Ocho’s heyday? I think it was hilarious.

If BUF can stop the Jets a couple more times, they have good shot at winning

Texans are down to their rookie 3rd string QB

Left shoulder injury to Leinart takes him out of the rest of the game, leaving the rookie TJ Yates as only active QB left since the one they signed earlier this week is inactive, with the emergency QB behind him being their TE Owen Daniels.

Haynesworth was the one who injured Schaub.

And we didn’t think Haynesworth would help the Patriots :-)

Screw the Jets to hell.

Although the Bills do have one last chance to win, and still have all of their timeouts. . . .

Both teams have done a pretty good job of proving they're terrible.

Sanchez is awful but for the at times unbelievably bad pass defense of the Bills. So many completely wide-open receivers.

180 yards, 4 TDs?

That’s some incredible horseshoe Sanchez has shoved up where the sun don’t shine.
