Rookie Guide

I noticed that the PatsPulpit didn't have one of these posted on the Front Page, so I decided to make one. Please Rec this, and if one of the mods wants to put this as a link on the FP, but I need to rewrite (a) section(s) I will be happy to do so.

Sammory -also spelled Sammary- is a summary of a long post thus named so by Medic I believe because Sam is to lazy to read anything of any length and would always ask for a summary. Anytime you see someone asking for a Sammory it most likely signals that they do not have the time or do not care to read the entire post and would like it if you could give them a brief summation of the points made.

If you put up a disgusting or disturbing picture, at least have the common decency to put a title, so we can close it in the comments.

Also, we have female Pats Fans on this site, so be respectful. As a warning this is not a dating site, there are multiple sites for that, The Pats Pulpit is not one of them.

Never, ever question a fans faith. We are Pats fans here, except for the occasional troll or other a fan from another team. There is a big difference. There are great examples of fans from a different team that will always be welcome on this site, since they use logical reasoning, stats and deductive reasoning to make an arguement and never personally attack us. I am sure there are other fans that would like to post here, just make your arguements out of logic and not hatred/emotion.

No personal attacks of any kind from anybody. Attack the arguement, not the messenger.

Use reply when talking to someone, it makes fellowing a conversation so much easier. It is to the right of the person's name, right to the date and time that person posted and right next to the plus sign. And if it bothers you that much flag it. Next to the time stamp there are two buttons.

Reply- most rookies don't, but it is simple, just press the reply button and your comment will be under the other person's comment. Like mine is to your's.

Use the action button to either rec a comment that is well written and brings up a great point. Or use it to flag a person's comment that displays unacceptable behavior.

Actions- when pressed it split up into two more options.

Rec- Something that you concur with but doesn't need to be explained further. The PP way of saying, "Couldn't say it better myself."

Flag- Used for inappropriate / spam / troll comments. These can only be seen by Mods and if one of them deems it as a(n) inappropriate / spam / troll comment, then he deletes it and either warns the person with a personal message, or bans them for an amount of time.

Use up to see what a certain comment was replying to. The comment that it is in reply to will be at the top of the screen.

Please only use the title for the first line of your comment, please. I've noticed a problem with this amongst new rookies, it is very hard to read all bold.

Never use all caps for the entire comment, unless it is in a Patriot Game Thread where we are cheering extra loud for a big defensive stop or last second game winning TD.

Also, please don't use all bold for the comment in entirety, for the same reasons stated above.

Also another reason for not using all caps is that is considered yelling and thus rude not

to mention that it irritates the shit out of Matty.

it is more appropriately posted as a fanshot than a fanpost

Fanposts are more for articles that you write, rather than a brief quote from a news source. just sayin =)

Use ______ to separate stats you post in the comments section. I learned this the hard way, but you can learn it the easy way!

Spamming on this website is strictly prohibited, all spamming comments can and will be deleted by one of the mods, the resident manager of this fine blog, when he gets around to it. Spamming is Repeated Posting, Emailing, Texting, Faxing of anything. Now there is a difference between having accidental multiple comments due to an old or incompetent home computer (this is what happens to me every once in awhile) and intentional repostings. If you say something, it has been / will be heard, as there are many regulars.

Posting Fanposts

If you want to get your opinion out there this is a good place to do it, but if you notice a similar post already in the recent posts box or the recommended posts box please don't post another Fanpost, but rather post it as a long comment in the similar Fanpost. This will allow a more diverse selection from the FP and keep the recent FanPosts from being flooded by basically the same post. Also, please don't post in  ALL CAPS, or in all bold AND NEVER BOTH. As it makes it hard to read.

Posting Fanshots

This is a great way to post news relevant to the Patriots, or the NFL. These are typically pictures, links, quotes or anything smaller than a FanPost. Please do not post the same link if it is already on the recent Fanshots box or in the Recommended Fanshots. Again this keeps other news from being bumped off the FP.

Game Thread Behavior

I have noticed some make some very disheartening comments in game threads. These comments are about how the game is over when we are down by 10 and it isn't even halftime. It really isn't complicated, don't post these. There are 60 minutes of play, 4 quarters and it isn't over until the fat lady sings (Rex Ryan). Don't get this confused though, the thread is to vent your emotions and also have a little bit of a conversation. There is a line between commenting on an awful play and what I am talking about. These comments have forced some regulars to this site to totally avoid game threads. Hopefully these types of comments can be avoided.

Trolls- from wiki -

troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forumchat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotionalresponse[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

This team's motto: (can you guys help me with this?)

Remember to have fun, but be respectful.
