Signings you would like to see the Pats make
I thought we'd make one thread for the signings we'd like the Patriots to make when free agents are concerned.
Often, recent history have shown, it's not the biggest signings that will end up making the most noise. Therefore I'm particularly interested in under the radar signings you'd like to see. I'll start off with a few obvious ones:
Mathias Kiwanuka, OLB - Kiwanuka is intriguing but comes with a buyers beware sign (a suspicious neck injury). If given the green light by doctors and/or signed for a relatively modest price he could be a great addition and add to our pass rush instantly. He's got experience playing LBer and has shown to be a very good player when healthy.
Matt Light, OT - If Solder had been given more time my stance on this might have been different. However, Light is dependable and could play in a number of spots. While I like what the Patriots did adding to the offensive line through the draft both Solder and Cannon (when healthy) might have to learn the ropes for a while. Having Light around for at least another year would be a great insurance policy further on as well. However, if he gets a great deal somewhere else he will have to go and play ball there since we can't give him a huge contract under these circumstances.

love all your picks
It would be a miracle but somehow getting Tamba in exchange for meriwether (SP) and a 3rd rd pick would be AWESOME
Floyd is in talks with the ravens.
I would like Floyd or Sidney Rice please. Is there a DE out there we could be interested in getting?
I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP
So far
our strategy seem to be to wait and see…
That strategy has often proved to be the right one.
However, as always it’s making me nervous. I do feel we have quite a lot of depth on this team (which shouldn’t be underestimated) but lack a little punch (especially on defense).
with spikes back and warren, that punch should increase. ;)

Or more likely,
The Pats and their prospects aren’t talking to the media.
"Perhaps it was the Noid who should have avoided me." Mayor Adam West
off topic but
gang green nation suspects the jets have given Nnamdi to a 12 million dollar contract. 80% chance of signing. D=

I like Kiwanuka.
I think he’d be a great fit here. He has great size, and not only possesses experience as a 4-3 DE but also as a 4-3 OLB. Which makes me believe he could stop the run, rush the passer off the edge, and play in coverage. Which happen to be the 3 things a 3-4 OLB have to know how to do.
He’d also probably be great as a nickel DE. Or really a DE in any of our 4 man front subpackages. He’d be a really great pickup, maybe not as a big splash type of selection. But as a guy with some talent and versatility that would be a good fit in a couple different spots on our defense. Someone who could be thrown right into our rotation and contribute at OLB or at DE in a 4 man front.
