Nnamdi the Eagle: Good thing for the Pats?

Now that Nnambi is an Eagle and not a Jet (I did not see that one coming after the eagles got DRC in the Kolb trade) i cant help wonder: would the Pats have been better of with him as a jet?

At first it seemed very scary with a revis/asomugha tandem, but in hindsight I'm not really sure. The additional cap space the jets have now means that they might actually have an offence this year?

Yesterday it seemed like we would be facing a non-offence from the Jets with a strong D-Line including Ty Warren. Today is seems like they Jets can afford an offence and the pats D-line suddenly looks vulnerable. Also, the week 12 trip to Lincoln Financial Field suddenly looks quite a bit less appealing.

Im I worrying to much?

Would he have helped the scum in NJ?

Yes, albeit slightly, and certainly not enough for what he was going to be paid.
Him not going there doesn’t help them at all (and may even impact them negatively, since so many of their roster are going to be disgruntled at giving up money, plus the guys they didn’t target), so that helps the Pats.

speaking of warren

i dont want him to go to the jets or ravens…

as for teh eagles, thats a good secondary they have now. could be a scary defense with added pass rush just from this move. it will also be interesting to see if they do some gimmick plays with vick and vince young in at the same time.

I dont think Nnamdi improves the eagles that much

They have absolutely no one at LB with Stewart Bradley going to Arizona and although they got Babin they dont have anyone to stop the run in their front 7. Teams are going to run all day on them and throw to their TE’s and backs a lot more to account for their pass rush. The cap space he takes up will also make it tough for them to make DJax happy as he is currently holding out.

In all I think that signing Nnamdi was the equilvalent of buying a sports car on impulse. It feels great now but when its cold and the weather is bad they’ll be stuck spinning their tires as their neighbors with pickup trucks drive right by them.

Eagles LBs will be better this year

Because they couldn’t be much worse than they were last year. They probably had the fastest team in the NFL in 2010, but if you are not in the right position, speed won’t always help make up for it.

Chaney is going to play better this year, and they might pick up another free agent LB or trade for one. Secondary will defiinitely be better, Patterson was awful most of the time opposite of Asante. Nnamdi by himself, not transformational, but dumping a bad DC, getting injured players back, getting younger players more experience, and bringing in some other quality pieces will definitely improve that defense.

Nnamdi could’ve helped make it 35-3… too late!
