We are all excited that we got Ocho. I am still excited about it. Lately I have been reading about how Taylor price is doing in camp, and lately... he has been doing very... very well. Here are some of the notes from PFW on patriots.com: http://blog.patriots.com/2011/07/30/quick-kicks-day-3-camp-notebook/
* As he did at the start of last year’s camp, second-year receiver Taylor Price seems to be exhibiting precise route-running technique and sure hands.
* In the 7-on-7 passing period, Brady executed a perfect pump-fake completion to Price, who ran a brilliant in-and-up pattern. The initial move by Price, pretending he was headed across the field from the left, froze the safety, Brandon Meriweather, giving Price the necessary room (about five years) to haul in Brady’s precisely-thrown lob for a 60-yard touchdown.
These are just two reports from all 3 days of camp. I for one, can't see Ocho being cut like Torry Holt was last year. Ocho and Brady like each other a lot, and the same is said for ocho and BB. To me though, if Ocho wasnt here, Price would likely contend for the #2 spot by now imo. He is showing tremendous upside that I(I should say "we") expected looking at his rookie tape on youtube and and his play against miami last season.
Since Ocho will likely occupy the #1/#2 spot, I am beginning to think that Price will be our #4 WR, who can also switch with Ocho every now and then to give him a breather in games or what not. Hell, if we face the jets it would be funny that revis would be expecting ocho, only to be facing Price who Im sure revis has not looked at video of him at all(not much video to begin with). lol But that will likely not happen i suppose.
Depending on how Ocho does in camp though, keep in mind that I think its VERY possible that Price will steal the #1, and Ocho will switch off at the #2 spot with Branch every now and then. I know that is probably 10% likely, but BB will play who he thinks is the best player to play now. I dont think he chooses favorites.
If Price has a much better camp then Ocho, and has showed to be a very good receiver in pre-season with brady, I wouldnt rule out price as the #2 WR opposite of Branch/ocho (or hell we can interchange all 3 of them). That remains to be seen though. Either way, I am very excited about his play so far from the sound of things.
