Why I will miss Randy Moss

People can say whatever they want about Randy Moss, but the numbers dont lie. 7-time pro Bowl, 2nd all-time in 1,000+ yard receiving seasons, 2nd all-time in touchdown receptions, 2nd all-time in 100+ yard games and the list goes on. When he is playing and has his head in the game, this man is a game-changer. If Randy Moss is in the game, he is always a threat down the field. I'm pretty sure for everyone who watched and enjoyed all "18" games during the 2007 season thought that nothing was better then seeing Tom Brady connect with Randy Moss for a touchdown. When the Patriots traded Moss in 2010, I was one of many who was upset about the trade, but understood why it happened. He wanted a new contract and the Pats wanted to play the "wait and see" game. Deep down inside me at some point I wanted to see Randy Moss back in a Patriots uniform and with both sides showing interest, i thought this offseason it would happen. When the we traded for Ochocinco, I completely crossed that dream off my wish list because I knew it wasn't going to happen. I love the trade for Ochocinco don't get me wrong. But to think about how the season would be with a healthy Welker, a rejuvenated Branch, and the great Randy Moss all catching passes from the best quarterback in the league in Tom Brady.... I guess I'll maybe make my dream come true in EA Sports Madden 12.

I like Randy Moss.

His antics never really bothered me that much. Here’s the deal though, you need to change all of the “Randy Moss is” parts of your post to “Randy Moss was”. He just isn’t as electric as he used to be, it’s what happens when you get old. Frankly, he isn’t good enough in the other aspects of being a receiver to adapt into a possession guy. I don’t think his ego would allow him to come back as a part timer. It’s just not worth it to invest in him anymore. The team doesn’t need him.

I agree with this.

I loved watching Randy. Definitely one of the greatest WR ever in the NFL. If he’s not a 1st ballot HoFer then the voters are stupid.

But its time to move on.

If Moss became 2007 Moss again, I'd want Moss

Our offense has evolved into a possession receiver offense but I will always cherish the 2007 season when Moss was the best deep threat in the game. It was exciting to see Tom Brady just launch the ball up in the air and Randy Moss would leap and catch it over 3 defenders 60 yards downfield. Every moment of that season was breathtaking. It was the best Patriots offense I’ve ever enjoyed watching and I really wish it culminated in a Super Bowl victory if not that year, then another year but sadly, that year cannot be duplicated. Moss just isn’t the receiver he was that year anymore. If he could duplicate his performance that season, then 10 times out of 10 I’d pick Moss.

But in the offense that Belichick has evolved ours into, Chad Ochocinco is the perfect fit for us at the moment so realistically, Chad Ochocinco. Pipe-dreamingly, Randy Moss.

I would say our offense

reverted back to a possession receiver offense since we have rarely had a deep threat during the TB era. Ever since Curtis Martin left for the Jets and Robert Edwards blew his knee, we have used the short pass game in lieu of a run game..the Corey Dillion years might be exceptions, but for the most part true. The short to intermediate game is where we have excelled with the exception of 2007. With that qualifier I totally agree with you, 2007 was fun to witness. One Clap!

Randy’s a player with his heart on his sleeve. Why I always liked him as much if not more than Wes Welker – Randy is human, Welker’s a machine.

Thoughts on Ocho and/or Haynesworth and/or the rooks and/or cuts?

I posted on Haynesworth. I said we’re going to fuel him up with PCP and point him at Mark Sanchez.

I can just imagine LT looking up on pass pro, seeing Alberto charging at him, and thinking “Jesus christ, why did I ever move here”

I asked Ian Rapoport (and Mike Reiss and Greg Bedard if Hoodie talked to Schwartz in the offseason

Rapoport said Belichick “wouldn’t say today”.

Make of that what you will, but I can’t help thinking that Haynesworth = Suh. Especially if Belichick makes him stand up and moves him around to get him pass-rushing, etc.

Randy BAck in a Patriot uniform!!!

The Patriots offered Randy Moss a One Year Deal after his “RETIRMENT”, ( as did three other teams by the way as well).

  • I love my Pat’s, but They were the ones who F**ucked thing’s up not him-period point blank!!!!

After the “retirment” announcment, the New England Patriots offered Randy Moss a One Year Deal……He turned them down!!! AS HE SHOULD HAVE.
They don’t deserve him!! ALl he wanted from the get-go was a two year deal knowing that he would be around for two out of the four year deal the Tom Brady had gotten, as he knew that he had well withing him easily two years of Randy Moss Production left.
He wasnt asking for a truck load of money, he just wanted a respectable two year deal as he “EARNED IT”.

Well, The Pats offered him a one year deal and he said No thank you. GOOD FOR RANDY MOSS!!!

If they had half the class and brains they are said to have, they not only would have given Randy a respectable and well earned two year deal before “they”…..not “him” started the unraveling of the this whole thing. & In addition-well after he was forced to play with Tennessee unwillingly and even now after the “retirement announcment”, they still don’t have the ability to eat a little crow, admit “they were wrong-Not Randy Moss”!

***They do what now…….? Offer him a one year deal? How brash and cowardly of them!!!!!

Could you just see Randy Moss and Chad Johnson “BOTH” widing out routes together in the Red-White and Blue!!! This in addition to having both Branch and Welker for Tommy to throw at!!!!! Sprinkle a little Price in their so he’s continually primed up and ready for what should be full time action soon enough…………

Too bad a couple of Head Honcho’s in the Patriots Org haven’t been able to pull their collective head’s out of each others asses long enough to see what they even after the “retirement announcement” tossed in the garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wot

Moss got himself kicked out of three different teams in 9 months, and then retired. He’s done, and Moss himself knows it.

The same Moss that was on track for 30 catches last year?

If he wants to come back for 10 snaps a game, sure. If he wants to play a key role on offense, thanks but no thanks.
