If we all can remember what made our Pass Rush so dominant in the Super Bowl years was the fact that we had a bunch of guys that could get to the QB. We really didn't have a real standout sack master, no one one the pats roster had double digit sacks, but the fact that ANYONE could be coming at you made it particularly hard for offenses to target someone on defense to block.
As it stands now here are the guys we know can get to the passer.
LBs: Mayo, Guyton, Fletcher, Ninkovich
D-line: Carter, Anderson Wilfork, (Haynesworth), Pryor, Love, (Ellis)
DE/OLBs: Moore & Cunningham
Now to gauge where these pats patriots got their pressure from let's look at the sacks totals.
In 2001 the team's sack total was 39. Here is how the sacks were distributed among that team. Keep in mind that team also ran a 4-3.
LBs: 7 Sacks
D-line: 18 Sacks
DE/OLBs: 6 Sacks
DB: 8 Sacks
In 2003 the team's sack total was 41. Here is how the sacks were distributed among that team. Keep in mind that team also ran a 4-3.
LBs: 16 Sacks
D-line: 15.5 Sacks
DE/OLBs: 5.5 Sacks
DB: 4 Sacks
In 2004 the team's sack total was 45. Here is how the sacks were distributed among that team. Keep in mind that team ran a 3-4.
LBs: 6 Sacks
D-line: 12.5 Sacks
DE/OLBs: 21.5 Sacks
