The Patriots have announced their week two inactives for their home opener against the San Diego Chargers:

Ryan Mallett, QB

Taylor Price, WR

Shane Vereen, RB

Gary Guyton, LB

Ryan Wendell, G/C

Dan Koppen, C

Mike Wright, DE

The only "surprise here is Gary Guyton.  Guyton was listed as questionable, but most figured he would play.  Linebacker Brandon Spikes, who missed last week, will suit up for the Patriots.  Spikes will likely split time with Dane Fletcher at middle linebacker, with Jerod Mayo moving back to his spot as the weak-side linebacker.

Dan Koppen and Mike Wright were both previously ruled out due to injuries sustained last week.  Taylor Price and Ryan Wendell continue to rehab from preseason injuries - both were questionable.  Ryan Mallett, as the third string quarterback, won't suit up.  Shane Vereen, now healthy, is buried at the bottom of the running back depth chart.

Overall, no big surprises.  Just keep an eye on the linebacker situation, as Spikes missed the entirety of the preseason and no one is really sure where he is on the depth chart at this point.
