The Following Players Sucked Today;

To name just a few;

Star-divide

Julian Edelman.  Some nice returns, but horrible as a receiver and as a running-back.    I wasn't impressed at all with his play-making ability.

Deion Branch was in preseason form tonight.  A complete non-factor throughout the game.

Chad Ochocinco.   He let himself get beat on one of those interceptions, and that dropped-pass was pretty aweful.  Not really a factor throughout the game.

Sergio Brown an pass-interference.  I forgave the one last game due to his interception off of Rivers, but it needs to stop.

Josh Barrett.   Missed tackles more than one.

Tom Brady at times.   Some of those interceptions were at least somewhat-flukes(tipped), but some are on him.  He wasn't himself at times tonight, and those times were very costly.

Logan Mankins, penalties.

Devin McCourty.  Love him, but he needs to prove he's not a rookie-year wonder.

I'd have to watch the game again to get a better feel for who else definitely played below expectations.  Also, why does Belichick keep putting Fletcher out on offense?

Welker, Arrington, most of the o-line, and Gronkowski had great nights.  Ridley looked good and able to gash right up the middle.

My only hope is that a loss like this forces them to be honest

And make changes and adjustments that need to be made, and that the players that have underperformed so far realize that it’s on them to step up.

Like with the run game.

Ridley should move up the depth chart and we need some flashes of Vereen. Ridley out-performed BJGE and would have had even more impressive numbers if he didn’t slip on that shitty field they had. Instead of trying out our rookies, drafted fairly high, we give it to Edelman?

Also, Shaun Ellis… is it me or has he been a non-factor? Kyle Love looked better at DE…

The one facet of the team which deserves the highest marks, excluding individual players like Welker/Gronk/Arrington, is our special-teams. Slater leads a very solid group,

It is what it is

Of all the veteran DL we brought it

Haynesworth has looked the best. And that says nothing good for the rest of them. They looked good in preseason and promptly began disappearing on us. Also, I agree on Ridley.

It’s so frustrating looking at this team and seeing all the same flaws we saw when we got sent home by the Jets in January.

The missed opportunities

disgust me. If we throw even one less interception, we win that game. We were given chance after chance to claim the 3-0 record we deserved, but each time they (mostly Brady) passed it up.

by Chris Kole on Sep 25, 2011 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Depends on how you define deserve..

You’ve had 3 second-half comebacks against three teams that have collapsed all of them but us being average-bad.

I’ll put it like this:

Total dominance win: 100 points
Win after being down during the first half: 60 points
Win against a team that beat themselves: 30 points
Win against a team with no talent and beat themselves: 10 points

Or like this

3 games 118 points. Thats good no matter who you playing. Just saying while the Bills might not be champions, they aint chumps no more.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Jury is still out on them

Only 3 games played and all of them by the skin of their teeth. We will see if you can keep coming back from 20+ points every single game to win

I agree they are no longer terrible, and should probably be classified

as average. Because of this, can you really say they deserve that perfect season of theirs?

I guess what I’m trying to say is the Bills have the best record in the AFC – and yet, we both agree they aren’t the best team in the AFC, right?

Define best.

I thought this morning that the Patriots were the best in the AFC. So, given the Bills beat the best, I’d be happy to say, yes they are now. Just like the Giants were the best team in the league in 07. Blame it on poor playcalling, bad reffing, bad luck, whatever, a win is a win is a win.

Giants fans wouldn't say they were the best team in the league in 07.

Just played better on the day. It happens.

It's a game of days.

Just so happened that day defined the season. Every Giants fan I know would be glad to argue that.

Well

rings go to the best, not the second best. As a Bills fan, I knw this better than most. If there was an award for the “best” and not the champions, some could say we’d have 4.

Better than the 90 Giants? Probably.

Same as the Pats were better than the Giants that year, but not in the game they give the trophy for.

ROFL?

Wins don’t decide who’s best. You have to factor in how the win was gotten (blowout, shootout, defensive struggle, etc), and who the win was against.

Giants were the Super Bowl Champions in 2007, and the best team in the NFL

but they weren’t after Week 3. They were only 1-2.

Keep the faith!

half right

certainly not the best in the NFL…and it too 2 miracles on one play for them to win the SB

IMO

It’s harder to comeback after being down than to blow a team out. Total dominance happens all the time. 18+ point comebacks, not so much. Just about every win by any team that has ever won is because the other team made mistakes. What makes a team great is recovering from early mistakes and taking advantage of your opponents mistakes. And having a quarterback who makes a bee line to the locker room without shaking hands with the opposing quarterback is just a lack of class.

I take it you were there in the tunnel after the game?

Maybe Fitzpatrick jumping around like he’d just won his tenth Super Bowl made it a little awkward?

Hey

As long as he keeps winning he can do whatever he wants. Last year when the Pats blew out Buffalo, he shook Brady’s hand

You're grasping at straws

And Fitz hasn’t beaten a team like that before. So yes, for him it was winning something big. Can’t tell me Brady didn’t cheer after winning his first big challenge of a game.

Maybe. We don't go throwing around accusations of a lack of class either.

Point is, just because we didn’t see a handshake doesn’t mean there wasn’t one.

Celebrate your win, Buffalo. Pretend this was as big as a Super Bowl, because as far as you know, this feels the same.

Look at the Vikings – every week they’ve been ahead by 17+ points this year and went on to lose. 18+ point comebacks happen all the time.

Reminded me of 2009.

We had Moss and Welker and no one else that could catch.

Tonight we had Gronk and Welker and … // crickets chirping.

The one guy you can’t lay this on is Welker. He nearly replicated the first two game’s production in this one game.

A lot of guys dropping the ball – literally.

The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

Branch was supposedly double teamed

by prioris on Sep 25, 2011 11:23 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, right.

I’m gonna try and stomach re-watching it on NFL gamerewind, but I thoroughly doubt he was double covered more than a couple times, if at all. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember seeing 2 guys on him with any regularity.

Deep in enemy territory

by JeffyB on Sep 26, 2011 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Double teaming doesn't have to take the receiver out.

If it is more zone, where the CB passes him to the Safety, then there is an opportunity between zones.

If it is over/under, then there are opportunities laterally.

If it is just a safety that is leaning coverage his way, then it might take out the go route, but pretty much everything else is open.

Could be Branch just got beat.

The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

Best team in the NFL my ass… The Packers, Bears, Lions, Vikings, Patriots, Jets, Texans, Steelers, Colts, Ravens, Saints, Falcons, Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Chargers, and maybe Raiders are better.

You don't understant what better means.

9 out of 10 times 2011 Pats would beat 2011 Bills. Don’t believe it? Ask some oddsmakers who they would favor if there was a rematch today.

That PI call on Sergio was a joke.

I interfered more on that play than he did, and I was in my living room.
