AFC Divisional Playoffs: Texans (#3) at Ravens (#2)

570_mediumat 318_medium

Houston Texans (#3) at Baltimore Ravens (#2)

Sunday, January 15th, 1:00 PM ET | TV: CBS

Texans Coverage: Battle Red Blog

Ravens Coverage: Baltimore Beatdown

The outcome of today's final AFC Divisional Playoff game will have a direct impact on the New England Patriots: the Patriots will play the winner in next weekend's AFC Championship game.

The Baltimore Ravens are the clear favorites in this match-up, and most prognosticators are picking them to win this game handily. However, I wouldn't be so quick to overlook the Texans. Sure, Houston lost the earlier match-up to the Ravens 29-14, but that was a long time ago and both teams are very different. Against the Bengals last week, the Texans proved to be dominant up front, and I think their game with the Ravens today will be very physical. It's hard to give either the Texans or Ravens the edge in terms of their rushing attack, and while Joe Flacco represents an upgrade to TJ Yates, but Yates also has Andre Johnson to throw to.

Overall, I'm predicting a game that is going to be a lot closer than people think. While I'm tempted to go with the underdog Texans, I think experience gives the Ravens the slight advantage in a game that could go either way. Greg's Prediction: Ravens 20 Texans 19

I know this is for the late game

but somehow the experts (or at least an unhelthy amount of them) seem to have the Giants favored all of a sudden.

How did that happen?

I like the Texans more

part of it is betting related – part is I just don’t like the Ravens much and they are a bad matchup

However, both teams are built about the same.

I wish for a hard fought game where they knock eachother out.

Texans are the most recent team to realize they don't have to be stupid on offense.

When will they switch back to being stupid and letting the Ravens play smart? Will Jacoby Jones manage to throw an interception on a punt return? Can JJ Watt PLEASE sack somebody already?

I stole this from some guy at KSK; seemed like a good place to share it:

From the Book of Belichick:

45Now from the eighth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the eleventh hour. 46About the eleventh hour Tebow cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" 47And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, "This man is not a real football player." 48Immediately one of them ran, and taking a bottle, he filled it with Gatorade, and gave Him a drink. 49But the rest of them said, "Let us see whether Jesus will come to save Him." 50And Tebow cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up another sack. 51And behold, Von Miller was torn in two from top to bottom; and the coach shook and the defense was split.

"Every time I call it a game, you call it a business. Every time I call it a business, you call it a game."

"The longer they play, the more they lose. In the end, we get it all."

What an ugly game.

The Ravens were lucky. 85% of their points came off of turnovers that were absolute gifts. 0 penalties. 0 turnovers.

I dunno

Based on today’s game, looks like we’re gonna open up a can o’ whup ass on Bmore. But then again, our D is nowhere near the Texans D

by 4admen on Jan 15, 2012 4:19 PM EST reply actions

But they are opportunistic.

They will create turnover opportunities. And Flacco will, given enough time, turn into the Flacco we hope he is.

If the Pats win the turnover battle, much of the rest will take care of itself.

Agree

I get the feeling our D is gonna show up BIG and cause Flacco to turn it over

by 4admen on Jan 15, 2012 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

I predict Ray Rice will have about 83 rushing yards and 1td against us next us.

But that is as far as their rushing will go. Ricky may add about 32 yards.

Or does it feel like the whole world roots against NE. I’m watching the post game show and everyone is hinting at NE being unable to Bmore. Boomer said, The win over the Broncos was a scrimmage
