Patriots, Giants Release "Projected" Injury Reports

Rob Gronkowski was the only player projected in the "Did Not Participate" category on the Patriots injury report.

Neither the New England Patriots or the New York Giants practiced today. Nonetheless, both teams released "projected injury reports.

The most interesting name on the list from a Patriots perspective is tight end Rob Gronkowski. On the report, he was projected as "Did Not Participate." Gronkowski injured his ankle against the Ravens in the AFC Championship Sunday afternoon. I wouldn't look too much into this, as this is simply a "projected" report, and I wouldn't be totally surprised if Gronkowski was limited in participation tomorrow. Of course, the situation bears watching - I just wouldn't even come close to hitting the panic button yet. After all, it was just two days ago that multiple news outlets reported that Gronkowski would be playing in the Super Bowl.

The Patriots listed 13 other players as "limited." This list included the usual "gang," although one name to watch was that of tackle Nate Solder, who was listed as questionable with a concussion.

For the Giants, Hakeem Nicks (Shoulder), Ahmad Bradshaw (Foot), and Tyler Sash (concussion) were all projected in the "Did Not Participate" category. The only other player listed was Osi Umenyiora, who was placed in the "limited participation" category.

Pretty sure

BB will list him as probable until game time. He likes to give other teams hope.

I thought that was called listing him as “doubtful” (which should be read as “doubtful he will miss this game”.

I don't get the reason for "projected" injury reports

if they’re not practicing- who cares?

At this point, even if they were practicing and Gronk was out, I would not be too worried. I mean, Gronk left in a walking boot after Sunday’s game, and it does not make sense to risk an injury by having him out there practicing on a mangled ankle almost two weeks before the game.

I will worry if it is this time next week and he still is not able to practice at all.

I'd think so.

Wish I could lend Gronk my ankles- they turn the way Pollard turned his naturally- it has saved me from a ton of sprained ankles!

Anybody else a bit… I don’t know… bored/jaded?
I’ve been completely disinterested in anything football since the Ravens game
I guess I just used up too much emotional energy
As the SB approaches, though…

No I feel ya

The Ravens game exhausted me. I barely had enough for the Giants/49ers game, and I imagine that wasn’t a cakewalk for fans of either team to watch.

I also feel like the days are dragging on. I probably won’t feel like that next week, though! : )

Go Pats. Celtics. Red Sox. Bruins.
Brady. Pierce. Thomas. How you doing?

by Tai on Jan 26, 2012 3:04 AM EST up reply actions

yup. As a Giants fan, I'm just tired. I was watching the Balt/NE game with a lot less interest and more anxiety

for my team, obviously….till the 4th quarter, when everything started to get crazy. Then I found myself engrossed in the game, getting excited, what not…then it ended, and I remembered the Giants game was next. A few minor heart attacks later, here we are…

out of curiosity, which team were you hoping the Giants would be facing?

I was very clear at the start that I wanted the Pats to play the loser of the 49ers-Giants game, since that would be the easiest team to beat, lol.

I think this week usually drags, though- there is no game this Sunday, and so the hype machine for the Super Bowl has yet to hit its swing- this week is the Senior Bowl and the ProBowl- by this time next week, the hype machine will be in full swing and we will probably be counting down the hours.

There's the Pro-Bowl.

No, you’re right. That’s not a game.

Not worth the TV time

I used to like it after the Super Bowl because it gave our football crowd one last time to get together and kind of close up the season, with the Pro Bowl on in the background. The next time we all meet again is for the draft at the end of April.

As far as the upcoming week goes, the more NFLN and ESPN hype I can miss, the better.

Keep the faith!

I liked it after the Super Bowl as well.

For pretty much the same reason.

Right now, who cares because there are no Pats in it anymore.

Totally agree....

I am sure I will get more into it as the day approaches, but right now I feel just a bit numb and tired.

same here.

It feels entirely different than any of the pre-Super Bowls in the past for some reason.

Even if ankle is fine I hope he wears the boot all the way up until

kick off. They won’t know how toprepare, which will only tick them off. I want BB to get into there heads.
