AFC Wildcard Game Thread: Bengals (#6) at Texans (#3)
Cincinnati Bengals (#6) at Houston Texans (#3)
Saturday, January 7th, 2012 | 4:30 PM ET | TV: NBC
Bengals Coverage: Cincy Jungle
Texans Coverage: Battle Red Blog
Here we go, the 2012 NFL playoffs are finally beginning! The first match-up of wild card weekend will be the Cincinnati Bengals at the Houston Texans. This is a game that Patriots fans should be particularly interested in, because if the Bengals win, as the #6 seed, the Patriots will play them in the Divisional Playoffs next Saturday.
If the Texans are to win, the Patriots will not know their playoff opponent until tomorrow. In that scenario, the Patriots would play the winner of the Steelers vs. Broncos game tomorrow at 4:30 PM ET.
In this match-up, both teams are featuring rookie quarterbacks: the Bengals have Andy Dalton and the Texans have T.J. Yates. While I like what Yates was able to do in his first three starts, he has struggled a bit as of late with the Texans going on a three game losing streak, and is battling a shoulder separation on his non-throwing arm.
The Bengals, on the other hand, have won two of their last three headed into the playoffs. I love what AJ Green brings to that offense, and the team's defense is a really underrated unit. I think the match-up will be a close one, with the Bengals barely squeaking out a win. Greg's Prediction: Bengals 23 Texans 20

No idea who I want to win
My gut goes with the Texans – hard to see us losing to the Steelers twice. On the other hand, its the BengalIf we can beat them then we have to play a beaten up Steelers/Ravens team.

My best scenario is:
Houston beats Cincy
Denver beats Pitts
Pats beat Denver
Houston beats Balt
and
Houston comes to the freezing cold confines of Foxboro after a brusing game against Baltimore!
How bout....
Cincy beat Houston
Broncos beat Steelers
Pats beat Cincy
Broncos beat Ravens
Pats beat Broncos…
That’s what I’d call wishful thinking haha

Whenever he smells a pass coming, he's in the air. His leap is practically trademarked.

Outplayed by Fletcher, Spikes, Mayo, Nink, and even Tracy White
Good guy to have on the bench, probably not long for New England
I guess it's just LB depth, Fletcher and Spikes are clearly better
Even Tarpinian passed him on the depth chart

If i was to analyze this game
I’d say the Bengals clearly feared the prospect of coming to New England, and decided their best course of action was to go down in defeat.

What are chances that Pitt employs their same gameplan against NE next week and
find success? On defense anyway.
Depth is great. Right up until you need it!!
Next to null
I dont see BB or BoB letting that happen.

I am not as confident as i would've been if we had played the Bungles though.
Pitt may elect to spread us out by going 4 wide or so, and even carve us up the middle with Miller. They would surely find success against our D.
Depth is great. Right up until you need it!!
Wait you mean the same Steelers' Defensive gameplan
or the gameplan against our defense?
If the former than I dont think it would be successful. If the latter, then I’d have to agree with you
