NFC Wild Card Game Thread: Lions (#6) at Saints (#3)

Detroit Lions (#6) at New Orleans Saints (#3)

Saturday, January 7th, 2012 | 8:00 PM ET | TV: NBC

Lions Coverage: Pride of Detroit

Saints Coverage: Canal Street Chronicles

The second Wild Card match-up this Saturday features a battle of two high flying offenses. For the first time in NFL history, two 5,000 yard passers will meet. While the Patriots have no real stake in this game, tonight's match-up certainly looks like it will be a barn burner, and a great game to watch overall.

I've got New Orleans in this one. While the Lions are a fun team to watch and quarterback Matthew Stafford is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, I think that Detroit is too immature and inexperienced and I think that will show up tonight. The Saints are on a roll, and have the hottest offense in the NFL right now. I think the game will be relatively close, but I don't see the Lions coming out on top. Greg's Prediction: Lions 24 Saints 34

It's dangerous to be crowned the best

team by so-called experts

not saying they’re going to lose this one just yet but the Lions certainly moved the ball with ease there…

by BJA on Jan 7, 2012 8:16 PM EST reply actions

Technically the Pats do have a stake in this game

Should the Lions pull the upset, the New Orleans’ (aka the Pats’) first round draft pick would be locked in at #24. More wins by the Saints, the further back it goes….

Wasn't someone saying earlier

that good teams don’t turn the ball over? The Saints beg to differ.

Keep the faith!

Perfect coverage. Unlucky

by quadruple option on Jan 7, 2012 9:16 PM EST reply actions

That’s why being a DB sucks. let’s say that there was a foot or two more space, you make a play on the ball like that but there’s enough room for the receiver to turn upfield and go 90 yards for a TD.
So perfect coverage = burnt for 90

Well, that's passive-aggressive trolling and you shouldn't do that

But real immature from the GGN mods. Moderators should never let their bans be personal.

So many comments to that maturity part Greg.

I really think that we(fans) mimic the personality of our organization. I would like to see what would happen if we cross moderated posts. Basically, that in the week leading up to and for the day after that blogs would swap a moderator with any bans being determined by the head of the site that it occurred on.

Some rule

Guy catches TD gets hit in the head can’t control the ball afterwards; no TD.

by WRMaurer on Jan 7, 2012 9:32 PM EST reply actions

is this a complaint about goodness

by prioris on Jan 7, 2012 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

It allows a personal foul post catch to negate a TD.

According to the rules it was a clear foul. Whether it should be a foul is 1 question. Before Calvin Johnson touched the ball down last year possesion with feet in bounds over the goal was always a TD.

I hope Detroit wins

I noticed Detroit has made adjustments in 2nd quarter.

After 1st quarter, I thought Detroit was going to get mauled

I hope they do too. I don't like them

but if by the grace of L Ron Hubbard we get to the SB, the Saints are the last team I would want to face.

CSC named the Saints Offense

No punt intended.

Pedey: Dear Playstation, So MLB the Show '09 says I can't hit the high and inside, huh? That's ridiculous, ask Ramon.
Ramon: Yeah, he can hit it. In fact, if I were to die today and went to some weird...(grabs script) some weird limbo afterlife, where I can gaze at one thing for eternity. Dustin's swing, or my daggers? (DAUGHTERS!) daughter's first steps, I would choose that swing.
Lazer Show: I can hit that pitch!

Good game.

I still want a Saints-Pats superbowl. That’s an interesting one.

Green Bay Packers will be tested in the NFC Title game, and I sure want them to lose to either the Saints or 49ers, preferably the Saints.
