Super Bowl Morning Open Thread
Well, we've finally reached Super Bowl Sunday, with the New England Patriots set to take on the New York Giants at 6:29 PM ET. I'll be heading out to the media center at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis in a few minutes. The plan is to get there at around 11:30, post a story, then head to Lucas Oil Stadium at around 1:30 (when the stadium is opened to the media).
I also wanted to take the time to thank Matt Grecco of Stampede Blue and SB Nation Indiana for letting me crash at his place for the week. If it wasn't for his hospitality, I wouldn't have been able to cover the game from Indianapolis this week. Also wanted to thank Brad Wells of Stampede Blue for helping set that up, and Dave Halprin of Blogging the Boys for working to get media credentials. It's been a privilege to cover the Patriots in Indianapolis this week, and I hope you all have enjoyed the extra coverage.
For now, feel free to use this thread to discuss the Patriots and the Super Bowl XLVI match-up against the Giants. And... oh yeah.... LETS GO PATS!

Nice to see the SB Nation gang working together
Kudos to Matt and Brad for the Indy hospitality.
I stopped watching coverage of the game and turned on Alaska State Troopers. I’m losing my mind and don’t need any more goading. Maybe I’ll build a deck or something. Anything to keep my mind off the game.
GO PATS!!
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
I'll probably dig a hole in the backyard.
The ground is frozen, so I’ll thaw it with matchhes. One at a time. I’ll do the digging with tweezers.
I bet I’ll have that new pool dug in by kick-off. So much nervous energy, and the game is on so late.

I can’t wait for the game, I REALLY want us to win this game… and I am very nervous about this game.

Here's what I would like to see:
I want Brady to throw seven touchdowns to Patriots players:
2 to Wes Welker
1 to Rob Gronkowski
2 to Aaron Hernandez
1 to Chad Ochocinco
1 to Deion Branch
I also want Eli Manning to throw a touchdown pass – to Julian Edelman.

They are so!
I am sure that talking about the patriots inability to defend the pass or protect Brady counts for something?

Sounds good...
I am getting off the computer right before the game kicks off and going to fold clothes… I was on the computer during the game on Black Sunday, and have been folding clothes during Pats games over the course of the winning streak,s o this seemed like a good thing to do .

I go on facebook, and just have to exit it because every single person on there is either hoping for Patriots to get destroyed or a meteor to fall down and make neither team win.

The Kiwanuka story on NBC right now is pretty interesting.
My favorite part of the Pre-Game show is the human interest stories. It makes you remember that when it all ends this is a game, and that there are bigger things in life than a game

Just taking my day as a usual day
Enjoying some sunshine, a nice leisurely breakfast with the computer, probably get out for a walk soon, then a shower, perhaps tune out with some music, and then it’s game time, and I am just so happy that we are playing for the "Ship, love this team, know they will play their hearts out, wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, just appreciating and enjoying this moment.

OMG
Rob Parker is the BIGGEST and most avid patriots hater on ESPN. It’s almost ridiculous his obvious distaste for everything patriot. His smug ass expects the giants to win by 2 TDs. Skip Bayless knows he thinks they are going to win by 3 and was trying to bate him to say it on TV. God I want the pats to win this game even more to shut his spygate crying ass up.
Rex Ryan: "There’s no way that we’re looking to replace Mark Sanchez"
Patriots Nation: "Thank God"
Giants Fans: "FOUR MORE YEARS!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!"
The funny part is
Skip Bayless was actually someone who was for Belicheck getting suspended when Spygate first came out. If he came around to actually understanding how little of a deal spygate really was, why can’t Rob? Oh, cause Rob hates everything Boston/New England since he’s from New York, even if he won’t admit it.
It’s also funny that people say Skip’s a riot, cause you’d be surprised by how obvious Rob’s bias can be when talking about any Boston team.
Go Pats. Celtics. Red Sox. Bruins.
Brady. Pierce. Thomas. How you doing?
by Tai on Feb 5, 2012 3:38 PM EST up reply actions
yeah but my god
Parker is just ridiculous. I mean I’m ok with being a homer for your home team, but to just be blatantly blinded by your hatred for another team when your a professional analyst, it’s frankly very poor of him. I mean I hate Eli Manning, but I still give objective analysis on his play this season and on the giants chances and I’m not even paid (well) to do it.

I have actually had to completely quit watching ESPN this week---
They are drooling over the Giants so much that it is nauseating. I respect the Giants, and admit that they are playing very good football right now, but they are not universes better than the Patriots. I expected a little more balance from them somehow.

Just flipped past NFL Network while trying to find something to watch...
I watched just long enough to realize that they had determined that Manning was a better QB than Brady and had to turn it off (they were down to discussing the coaching advantage, and the only advantage they were giving the Pats was at Wide Receiver).
"Valdez can pitch, Lee can hit... and pigs can fly."
I don't even have a problem with that
Manning is playing better football right now or at least it appears like that. He isn’t the better QB in general just playing better

My dad and I have been nervous as hell about this game for the past two weeks. Trying to find a logical reason why the Pats can win this game… Even though I’m a San Diego Native, I bleed red white and blue, and hate anything NY with every fiber of my being… Go Pats! Brady tie Joe Montana for rings!
The ones I am repeating to myself...
- Because any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday.
- Because try as they might, all the media talk in the world can not turn the New York Giants into Atilla the Hun.
- Because while no team is perfect, this Patriots team is dang good!
- Because the outcome of one game tells us nothing about what would happen if those teams played again.
