Okay, this isn't exactly big news considering the way the second half of the 2011 season went down, but it's worth noting nonetheless. Jeff Howe of NESN is reporting that the Patriots and Gary Guyton are expected to part ways after the official start of free agency tomorrow:
Linebacker Gary Guyton's days in New England appear to be over.
Guyton will become an unrestricted free agent at 4 p.m. Tuesday, and he'll look to seek opportunities elsewhere, according to sources. Guyton had a difficult season in 2011, and he was a healthy scratch for all three of the Patriots' playoff games.
Again, nothing too surprising or notable here. The only question I've got to ask: will the Patriots seek another legit inside linebacker to serve a back-up role, or will the team roll with the Jerod Mayo, Brandon Spikes, Dane Fletcher trio (with Jeff Tarpinian serving as a possible 4th inside linebacker)?
