Or do we underpay players for their desire to stay here. Here are some free agents so far average per year
Finnegan- 10 mil CB
Carlos Rogers- 8 mil CB
Carricker- 5 mil DE
Garcon- 8 mil as a #1 WR
V JAX- 11 mil as #1 WR
Wayne- 5 mil as #1 WR
Josh Morgan 6 mil as #2 WR
what i think this means for the pats after the jump.
First I think these numbers might mean that 9 mil for Welker tagged is a steal. I wanted him to not get the tag so we had more money free for maybe Wallace and Wayne instead. In retrospect the tag is a steal and i would think he plays under this for this year and maybe next.
It seems like even more this year, teams are giving out crazy contracts. I do my value from the inside out DL,LB Safety and then CB. On offense QB OL TE RB then WR. The money thrown around on the outside is really a lot. I don't think the Patriots value either CB or WR as much as the rest of the league. I think that if the Pats want to pay big money its best spent on the pass rush/front seven. As such I would be most interested in going after Mario Williams if anyone. I think the value is better there than at CB or WR. I think there is a ton of WR talent in FA and the draft and talent is thin at CB throughout the league.
Anyways these numbers make our players look like steals and again I think the draft might be the best choice other than Super Mario as you never see a talent like him on the open market as young as he is. If not him I would trade the first for Mike Wallace in a heartbeat, offer him your offer and if the steelers match ok if not he's ours. They are a little cap weary and it might take less than what you would think to price the steelers out of the deal.
