Some of you know me, many of you hate me....Merry Christmas, have a beignet. <-------New Orleans donut. Anyway, I've been tasked with the NE Patriots two first round draft pics in the annual mock draft over at CSC. For those of you who aren't familiar, it's a pretty simple concept. Various regulars at the blog get chosen to represent a team a draft in a straight up mock format over the course of a few weeks.
Here's my conundrum...getting into the head of Bill Belichick on draft day is like teaching a newborn to read. It can't be done. Unfortunately I cannot trade down for more draft picks and simply skirt my duty. It's no secret that you guys need help on the defensive side of the ball with both a pass rush and some secondary help. However, last year the Pats seemed to make a change to a 4-3 alignment most of the time rather than the 3-4 that has been so common there for the last decade.
So, in the opinion of you good NE fans, was that change a permanent change, or simply one that could be attributed to the personnel you had on hand at the time? Additionally how would you rate your teams current needs? At the moment, taking into consideration the offseason changes you've made, I'd list your primary needs at Safety, DE, OLB, CB and C. Just a curious post for you guys as I ponder your faux fate in the coming days. If you're curious about who I eventually choose, feel free to come peruse Canal Street Chronicles in the coming days and weeks. Currently, however, the picks for NE are not scheduled until mid to late April.
Regards.
