After sustaining a concussion in practice earlier this week, Jamey Richard's hopes of making the Patriots' final roster came to an end. The team announced that they have placed Richard injured reserve on Thursday.
In corresponding moves, the Patriots have claimed rookie guard Dustin Waldron off waivers and signed fellow rookie guard Derek Dennis--both formerly of the Miami Dolphins.
Waldron, (6-foot-5, 305 pounds), was waived by the Dolphins earlier this week after signing as an undrafted rookie free agent back in April. Dennis, meanwhile was released by the Dolphins on the first day of training camp when veteran Eric Steinbach was signed. Both will join the team later this week.
Though Thursday was a bad day for one offensive lineman on the Pats roster, it was good day for another. Versatile guard/center Nick McDonald passed his physical and was removed from the physically unable to perform list. McDonald missed the first seven training camp practices with an undisclosed injury.
