Patriots vs. Eagles: 5 Players to Watch on Offense

With Stevan Ridley likely out tonight, UDFA RB Brandon Bolden could see some extended reps with the first team.

Five players to watch as the New England Patriots host the Eagles in their second preseason game tonight:

Nate Solder, OT: Solder had his fair share of struggles in the Patriots' preseason opener against the Saints, but will have a chance to redeem himself against Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, and the Eagles defensive line.

Brandon Bolden / Shane Vereen, RB: With projected starter Stevan Ridley expected to miss tonight's game with injury, running backs Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden should see extended reps with the top offensive unit. For these two players, every rep will be a chance to stand out and separate themselves.

Logan Mankins, OG: Mankins was activated from the PUP list following last week's game, and he is expected to see his first game action of the 2012 preseason tonight. While there might be some rust to shake off, assuming Mankins does play with the starers, we could gain some type of insight into how the Patriots interior line may look without Brian Waters.

Two more to watch after the jump!

Ryan Mallett, QB: Mallett makes the "players to watch" article for the second straight week following an abysmal performance against the Saints. Mallett is one player who really needs to show improvement. If he doesn't, perhaps his roster spot isn't as secure as one might think.

Brandon Lloyd, WR: Am I the only one anxious to see Brandon Lloyd really get some quality reps? Lloyd's one catch in the opener was called back due to penalty, and it would be nice to see him establish some live-action rapport with quarterback Tom Brady.
