According to a team press release, the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with rookie free agent OL Kyle Hill. Terms of the contract are not immediately known.
This from the team:
Hill, 23, was a four-year starter at left tackle for Duke University. The 6-foot-6, 306-pounder was one of four team captains as a senior and a two-time Academic All-ACC selection. He started all 10 games his senior year in 2011 and all 46 of Duke's contests since the beginning of the 2008 campaign.
The move comes just a few days after the team announced the sudden release of fullback Kareem Hudgins. Hudgins, who was signed to replace Tony Fiammetta on the roster, reportedly failed his physical, and was released less than 24 hours after signing.
The addition of Hill is welcome, as the Patriots are very thin at the offensive line. With Sebastian Vollmer, Kyle Hix, Matt Kopa and Darrion Weems struggling to stay healthy and Robert Gallery retiring earlier this week, Hill will provide much needed depth at offensive tackle.
