Patriots Add Wide Receiver Sam Kirkland To Practice Squad

According to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss, the Patriots have signed wide receiver Sam Kirkland to their practice squad.

Kirkland, an undrafted free agent out of Kent State, was waived/cut by the Washington Redskins earlier this week. He signed with Washington back in April, a few days following the draft.

Kirkland comes into the NFL after a tremendous college career. In his four years at Kent State, he was able to become the school's sixth all-time receptions with 113. He finished his college career with 1,310 yards receiving and 1,856 all-purpose yards.

With Kirkland in the fold, the Patriots practice squad is beginning to take form. As long as these players clear waivers, the squad is expected to consist of Kirkland, FB Erik Kettani, LB Jeff Tarpinian, OT Matt Kopa, WR Jeremy Ebert and TE Alex Silvestro.

As long as these players clear waivers, the Patriots will have five out of a possible eight players signed to their practice squad.
