I know it's only one game, but boy did it do my heart good. Armed with a lead in the second half, the Patriots actually went to the ground more and more as time went by and the lead went up. consider the 2nd half drives:
1st Drive: 2 runs, 5 pass (40% run) 1:30 T.O.P.
2nd Drive: 2 runs, 8 pass (20% run) 4:33 T.O.P
3rd Drive: 4 run, 2 pass (80% run) 2:25 T.O.P (TD)
4th Drive: 7 run, 4 pass (65% run) 5:02 T.O.P. (FG)
5th Drive: 5 run, o pass (100% run) 2:19 T.O.P.
20 runs, 19 pass, 10 points, 16:19 T.O.P for the second half
That is what I call effective use of the running game. Ridley lead the way, Woody and Bolden both added contributions to the run game.
A solid, diverse game plan with great clock management and balance. Adding Vereen to this can make it better. Building in play action to the tight ends, all one million of them could be just plain unfair. Having 4 backs who can rotate in and out could make this the best closing offense the Pats have had since 2004.
Now, how much does Josh McDaniels like this type of offense vs how much of this was taking what the Titans were giving.
