I dont understand the way our defense plans to be elite if we don't even use our personnel correctly? We have had one of the worst secondary in NFL history over the last three years. Yes i know our offense doesn't keep games close and we are up by a lot which causes our D to play prevent more than most teams but still the style of D in which we play is conservative and boring. We almost never blitz more than 4 players, play way to much zone, and do not go after game changing plays as aggressively as one would like. I understand we do not have great personnel in our secondary and we may only have one pass rusher but we blitz the least amount in the NFL. In my opinion I would be aggressive on D and try to make plays and create something positive for the offense. If we mess up a few times and let quick scores ill take that over a long 7 min drive that keeps Brady off the field. We tend to not get pressure play a conservative zone and let the opposing offenses throw 10 yard passes and drive down the field with ease for most of the second halves of games. This is why we lose big games because our defense is just to damn soft and Im sick of watching it. The game has changed so much since we won our last super bowl and this conservative style of D that Belicheck has loved to play with the patriots is obsolete in these days with strong QB play and passing games. It works against run heavy teams for the most part but honestly what elite run heavy teams are really left other than the Texans and the 49ers....? We need to adapt adequately and create an aggressive defense with a sense of swagger if we want to move to that next level and possibly to a 4th super bowl.
