New England Patrios running back Shane Vereen has been ruled out for Sunday's regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans. Vereen, who has been battling a nagging foot injury, did not practice all last week.

Vereen has been out since the Patriots' preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since he won't give it a go on Sunday, look for Stevan Ridley to get significant reps with both Danny Woodhead and Brandon Bolden coming in to spell him.

Rookie cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was a new addition to the Patriots' injury report. Dennard, who's been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury throughout the preseason, was limited during Friday's practice. With the Patriots limited to 46 active players on Sunday, Dennard seems like a good candidate to be inactive.
