This year there are several teams with new GMs and a need for a starting Quarterback. Trading Mallett for a second round pick this year and a conditional first round pick next year would make sense for both teams. The trade would be attractive to a new GM, who would get a starting QB without risking big bucks or their first round draft pick on an unproven college QB. Mallett becomes a free agent next year and Brady has a few years left to play. The Pats could sign a low cost free agent to back up Brady, and use this years second roound pick to fill current needs and next years first round pick on Brady's replacement,
