2013 Patriots Draft: Every Pick + Their Career NCAA Stats

This article is essentially going to be an overview of the Patriots 2013 draft. It will include every player, and their career NCAA statistics. In this way it may be useful as an on Pat Pulpit REFERENCE POINT.
I will also include some of my thoughts and opinions on the draft.

***WARNING*** This article will be long. All of these tables I'm including take up space. I do not expect anyone to read every detail of what is in this piece. I hope you're not scared away by the overall length. Because really very little of this piece will be my thoughts/commentary. Feel free to skip the tables entirely and only go for my thoughts. AND feel free to skip my thoughts entirely and use the tables for the information that they posess.

Again credit goes to Sports-Refernce.com for those lovely tables. Sports-Refernce.com/CFB for specifically NCAAF player stats.

Well now my goal of creating a PatsPulpit refernce point for all of our draft picks and their college stats is complete. What next?

I'm going to finish off with just a few of my thoughts regarding the Patriots 2013 NFL draft.

1. Aaron Dobson. LOVE the pick. He has size, he has deep speed, he has agility and quick feet, he has hands. He can be a legitimate X receiver for NE. I think he will step in and produce immediately. While I still think, similarly to last year, GRONK and Herndo and DannyA/Edelman might be the primary targets. I think Dobson can do what Lloyd did. Give us a legitimate threat on the sideline. Make acrobatic catches and show off impressive body control. I also think he can be more of a deep threat than Lloyd was. While I think he has the upside to develop into a WR1 I do not expect him to be that, if at all, within the next 2-3 years. However I think given that in our system the X can sometimes be the 2nd, 3rd. or maybe even 4th target he is in the perfect environment to succeed and develop. If he can be a consistent 3rd or 4th receiver for us, yet still consistently make plays, that'd be great. All the while he can grow and develop and learn how to properly use his physical gifts as well impove the mental portion of his game until later on he is a true WR1. Or Maybe not a WR1 in the sense that Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitz are. But a true above average starting quality outside receiver. Whereas he's better than any team's #2 outside WR. And Maybe worse than 16 teams #1 outside WR.

2. Collins wasn't on my radar, but after reading seems like a good pick. Ultra athletic. Has played S MLB OLB and DE. Seems like he could be a coverage linebacker or a defensive end or a Sam linebacker in a 43. His athleticism, as well as what I've read about scouts viewing him as one of the best coverage LBers in the draft, combined with his past experience as a Safety, leads me to believe we drafted him to help bolster our coverage in the middle of the field. However with his most recent experience coming as a 4-3 DE/3-4 OLB hybrid I could just as reasonably believe we drafted him to add depth to our DE corp. Maybe he's a combination of Hightower of Ninkovich. Plays an on-the-line LBer position as a 4-3 Sam or a 3-4 OLB, and can help at DE in subpackage / third down situations, and perhaps adds depth as an off-the-line 'backer in a pinch. He's one of few players in this draft with the size, skills, and background to play on our off line as well as play in space in coverage roles or on the line in pass-rushing roles. I don't know where he'll fit, where he'll excel, what our plans are for him, etc. But I like it! The main differences between him and Hightower to me are that I don't see Collins as really a great run-stopper. And I don't see Hightower as a great coverage player. I also see Hightower more off the line, stopping the run, and I see Collins on the line, on the edge either rushing the QB or dropping into a zone. But what do I know? I don't know if Collins is a MLB, an OLB, a DE, 4-3 SAM, or a 3-4 OLB, a coverage MLB, or a pass-rushing subpackage end. I know nothing. And I almost love that I know nothing. ( Long story short: Supreme athleticism + multiple position changes + production at each position, LIKE ints at S, FF, TFL+Sks at OLB/DE = INTRIGUED! )

Anyways my I Phone is getting really really slow. I will continue this piece in a fresh post. Look for "2013 Patriots Draft: Every Pick + Their Career NCAA Stats - Continued"

Would appreciate any input, comments, complaints, suggestions feedback, etc. !! OR If anyone has any further stats they would like included that I did not, Let Me Know! Thank You!
Can't WAIT to get into Josh Boyce.

Editor's note/disclaimer: My "thoughts" about these players are essentially the uneducated ramblings of an avid football fan. I LOVE football. I do not pretend to know anything about it. If you think I'm an idiot, or I'm wrong. TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS. I won't be insulted and I love to learn.
