Tebow signing among many head scratching moves

Getting football info has been a little rough over the last few days. I have given up the PFT habit, becoming wearisome of the moderation of comments for no reason at all, I don't facespace, mybook or twitter etc. Its been rough, to say the least. And quite frankly Florio is a smarmy little jerk. So on the yahoo home page looking for perhaps some new news on the Syrian civil war there was the little blurb about Tebow signing with the Pats. I thought to myself one word: "Why" Could it be that the Pats want to sell some jerseys? Could it be a prelude to the Pats signing up for HBO's fabulous Hard Knocks? Did Bob Kraft convert to Christianity and wanted a mentor around? I couldn't think of one good reason for the Pats to sign Tebow. Still Can't. The baggage he brings just isn't worth it. The media, the circus like atmosphere, etc just doesn't make it worth it. Belichick will undoubtedly clamp that down in his black hole in Foxborough. But it sort of fits in line with some of the head scratching moves the Pats have made over the years. Signings like Corey Dillon (maybe not so head scratching) Randy Moss (worked well... for a while) Monty Beisel ( really? I still ask myself why) Albert Haynesworth (oh god) Ochocinco (hated this from day 1) among others.... and now Tebow. Any other signings the Pats made the make you ask why? and really, why Tebow. he brings nothing to the table as far as I can tell.
