The good, bad and the ugly of the Patriots preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There were a lot of things that really jumped out to me in the preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Some of the things were great and other things were not so great. This is what I noticed in Friday's game.

Good: The Brady to Amendola connection. Tom Brady had an excellent connection with new wide receiver Danny Amendola connecting on six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Brady looked very sharp as well as he went 11-for-12 for 107 yards and a touchdown. He only had one incompletion after going 11-for-11 to start the game. This was just Brady being Brady as he looks to continue being an elite quarterback in the NFL. Another thing that jumped out at me that was excellent was the defense. OLB/DE Rob Ninkovic looked great pressuring the quarterback as well as OLB/DE Chandler Jones. I have high hopes that New England can become a top defense this season.

Bad: Keeping the Buccaneers in the ball game. Even though this was preseason, the Patriots jumped out to an early lead but let them back into the ball game. Although it was because the players changed from the start of the game, it seems like there is still a long way to go for some of the players on the roster right now. Not to take away from some of the talent Tampa Bay has, as they are a solid up and coming team.

Ugly: Tim Tebow. The third string quarterback had an embarrassing performance finishing with -1 passing yards and only completing 1-of-7 pass attempts. Although he did have 30 yards rushing, Tebow showed how he is still an amateur at passing the ball. He overthrew and underthrew his recievers most of the time making him look like a rookie. I'm not saying he can't help out the Patriots at other positions, but he will certainly not help at the quarterback position.
