The Patriots defense is getting more healthy, as well as improving. Last week, nobody on the Patriots defense got moderately injured.
Pressure Peyton Manning
Having a healthy defense is huge when your playing Peyton Manning and his team from Omaha, Nebraska. No, their not all from Omaha? Is he from... No? Really? Well it most likely means nothing anyway. In order to throw off Peyton "Choke in Cold Weather" Manning, you got to take him out of his zone. In other words, pressure him, and hit him. He obviously got more tough after his neck surgery. I used to call him Peyton "Mommy He Hit Me" Manning for crying out loud! Although, remember when Logan Ryan picked off Peyton? Chandler Jones put him in the ground on the same play. Remember when Peyton almost lost that fumble? The whole defensive line was chasing him on the same play. Even the play when Aqib Talib picked off Peyton, but was called for a holding penalty, that even if he didn't hold Demaryius Thomas, would of been an interception, Chandler Jones hit Peyton's throwing arm. Seeing a pattern? A lot of Peyton's miscues are off pass rush, which has most definitely got better since we played them in the regular season. Throw in 1 or 2 more defensive players up the middle, and let an healthy, stingy secondary, do the picking of Peyton's apples.
Contain the Broncos Pass Rush
In terms of pass protection, Nate Solder is having a great season. Logan Mankins as always is doing a solid job, and Marcus Cannon is doing a good job filling in for Sebastion Vollmer. Although, Ryan Wendell and Dan Connolly are the weaknesses of the pats o-line. Ryan Wendell is considered by some, the worst starting pass blocking center in the NFL. Dan Connolly isn't much better. He is somewhere in the bottom 5 in pass blocking guards. Both of them will have to contain Terrance Knighton, who had 3 tackles last week. Tom is not terrific when he is under pressure, and with Tom Brady not helping the Patriots, the Broncos will have their main focus on the run game, and they could then have an easy time stopping the 3-headed monster or maybe 4-headed monster of the Patriots running backs. Complete breakdown.
Have a Great Running Game
The Broncos will most likely have thier main focus on stopping LaGarrette Blount. If LaGarrette Blount could play like he has been playing for the past 2 games, we could most definetly come out on top. Although, he only really needs at least 85 yards rushing to keep the Broncos guessing. If Blount could establish the run game early, with the help of Steven Ridley, Shane Vereen, and maybe Brandon Bolden, the pats could run many play-action passes, making it easier to throw the ball, which makes it easier to get more chunks of yards, which means... Ding! Ding! Ding! You got it, more scores, which most of the time lead to wins.
Final Prediction: Patriots 27 Broncos 24
