Belichick had this in the works. Draft two running backs couple years back and trade for a tailback. Brady's numbers drop? Not a problem, we're a running team now.
Stats are not your friend, but, sometimes they say it all. McDaniels has a button he used to push, it is labeled "shotgun."
He doesn't push it anymore. Antowain Smith and Corey Dillon used to rip 40 yarders in the 4th quarter. It is how you finish teams off. Blount gets to do it now. The reign of the shotgun is over...thank God.
Return of the balanced offense, a memory from pre Randy Moss days and it is just in time. The NFL isn't set up for getting hammered on the ground. "Cover skills" are a number one priority for DB's and linebackers....unless you're playing the Patriots. You leap through the air and "play the pass" all you want....Blount is about to posterize you.
The stats from the last three Patriots games:
Brady 41 COMP > 75 ATT > 54.7% PCT > 77% QBRTG > 2 TD > 1 INT
Rush 115 attempts 545 yards 10 TD's
Scoring 118 TO 51
It's fine to go look up the Bronco's stats against the rush...there just won't be a category for their stats against the Brady doesn't "pass that much anymore " Patriots. The minute the defender leans towards the rush? You let the quarterback beat you.....that might not be so good an idea.
Never miss Patriots breaking news!
