McCourty, Talib, Mankins: Three Patriots Named All-Pros

Jim Rogash

Congrats to those with great seasons.

The Associated Press has announced their All-Pro teams of 2013 and three Patriots have made the cut.

Guard Logan Mankins

Safety Devin McCourty

Cornerback Aqib Talib

All three players made second team, which means they were runner ups in their position. There was no second team All-Pro quarterback, which means Peyton Manning was elected unanimous first team All-Pro.

While all three players certainly deserve the recognition, McCourty definitely sticks out as having played the best season of the three. Talib has been recovering since his hip injury, so it's likely his first half of the season lockdown mode won over a fair amount of voters. Mankins hasn't been his usually dominant self, so his toughness and reputation likely led to his selection.

A few Patriots who could have been considered are defensive ends Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones, who (fairly, in my opinion) lost out to J.J. Watt (who really should be a DT), Robert Quinn, Greg Hardy, and Mario Williams.

Kicker Stephen Gostkowski deserved a few votes, but was outvoted by Justin Tucker and Matt Prater- I wouldn't be surprised if Ghost finished in third.

Overall, a great showing by the Patriots and a great season as a whole. Congrats to the All-Pro Patriots.
