Looking over the depth chart, there seems to be a significant hole at LB depth and in the pass rush rotation, which started me wondering what they should do. As you all probably know, the Pats seem to run something in between a 4-3 and a 3-4, with a little more emphasis on the 4-3. This has left us all clamoring for another 4-3 DE to give Jones and Nink at least a small breather. But in looking over that depth chart, there seems to be a different angle to view it from. For reference, this is what I came up with for both 4-3 and 3-4 schemes:
Granted, this assumes Kelly and Easley make good 3-4 DE's, which I'm not sure plays entirely to their strengths, but it does seem to get the best players on the field. Taking Collins out as a starter seems like a mistake, but if you're moving him all over as a depth player that's essentially a starter, he would still get starter % snaps. If you're looking at it this way you probably have a better pass rush going as well. A three man rotation of Jones/Nink/Collins would let Jones and Nink play less snaps, which I can think we all agree is a good thing. What do you all think?
