Correcting a Past Mistake: Kenny Stills

While doing my research checking mock drafts, watching film on potential draft picks, checking out the combine, and fantasizing about all the "what ifs" that could happen on draft day. I came across a young WR out of Oklahoma by the name of Kenny Britt. He looked great on film, good route runner, good hands, good size & build (about 6' 190lbs). And I really liked what I saw. The kid was well rounded as a WR and you could see the potential was there for him to be an NFL receiver. So there was one thing left to check out: Was he a BELICHICK guy? You all know what I mean. A guy who works hard, puts the team first, has a good attitude, is smart enough to pick up the Pats complex system, and can keep it together on and off the field.

Well then I found that Yahoo! did a video Bio on him for a series called Dream Chasers. <-Video Link.

And I have to say, after watching it, I was impressed. This kid had faced adversity, he had been told he wasn't good enough. But he didn't accept it. He fought through it, kept working hard, and didn't give up. From what I've seen. Kenny Stills is everything we would want in a Patriot. He works hard, he is humble, hes a family man, a solid teammate, a leader, hes smart, responsible, and if you watched the Saints the last two seasons than you know he is extremely talented as a WR.

Now this is where the correcting a past mistake comes in. Kenny Stills was the 11th pick of the 5th round of the 2013 draft. In this same draft the Patriots Selected Aaron Dobson in the 2nd Round with the 59th pick, and Josh Boyce in the 4th round pick 102.

Here are the stats for Dobson & Boyce for the Past two seasons.

Aaron Dobson: [2013]: RECs - 37, Rec Yds - 519 , TDs 4 [2014]: 3 - 38 - 0
Josh Boyce: [2013] No Offensive Snaps, players mainly STs. [2014] DNP

Then here are Kenny Stills Numbers: [2013] 32 rec - 641 rec yrds - 5 TDs [2014] 63 - 931 - 3.

Those are solid numbers for the freshman and sophomore seasons. And considering the fact that the Saints target a lot of different receivers in never relying on one or two guys, and I think those numbers look even better. They were amongst the best on the team which tell me two things: 1.) Stills can ball, and more importantly 2.) Drew trusted him. Which we know is crucial. All the guys that succeed with the Pats catching passes are guys Tom trusts and that he grows in sync with.

So in closing. Kenny Stills is young, talented, and has everything you want in a Patriot. Hes almost 23 years old and if BB chose, he could pick him up for a modest contract for something like 4 yr(s) 6.5mill approx 1.625 per year with a option for a 5th at 2 million.

With his upside and our lack of a true WR2, I think a deal like this would be great for both sides.
Tell me what you guys think, correct my contract numbers if I'm off. I was going by similar deals and how it would seem BB & Co. value and pay players.
