After being forced to sit out yesterday’s first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots will finally enter the action today. The team should be very active, as it has the following four picks to work with in the second and third rounds:
Round 2, pick #60
Round 2, pick #61
Round 3, pick #91
Round 3, pick #96
The Patriots' four second day selections are tied for most in the league, as only one other team has the same number of picks today: the Tennessee Titans, led by former Patriots Director of College Scouting Jon Robinson.
Given how the first round unfolded, New England should be in a good position to get talented players despite picking relatively late in each of today's rounds. After all, there is still a lot of talent available at the Patriots' positions of need – especially at running back, along the defensive line and at linebacker.
If the Patriots want to address other positions, like wide receiver or cornerback, the team probably has to hope that one of the better remaining players falls to them at the bottom of the second round. However, the Patriots could also use some of their draft capital to trade up.
No matter what will happen, the Patriots will finally enter the action on what projects to be a pretty busy second day of the 2016 draft. Use the comments section below to keep track of any trades, rumors and other news you hear throughout the day.
