The New England Patriots will be working out University of Georgia wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell in preparation for the 2016 NFL Draft, per Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.
Let's get excited.
Mitchell is one of my favorite wide receiver prospects in the draft- you can see my rankings here- and he offers tremendous upside. He compares favorably to Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones, whom the Patriots were one of the final teams in the running for his services.
While Mitchell stands at 5'11, 198 lbs, he offers the wing span of a player closer in height to 6'3 and his catch radius aligns with the extremely long arm length.
Mitchell has 4.45 40 yard dash speed and 6.94 three cone, and he checks off all of the boxes that the Patriots look for in a prospect. He was also capable of carrying the entire Georgia Bulldog passing offense.
Mitchell looks to come off the board between the end of the 2nd round and the middle of the 4th round. He'd be a fantastic option in the Patriots offense- and the past few Malco(l)ms have worked out well for New England.
