AP Names Tom Brady Male Athlete of the Year

Tom Brady: AP Male Athlete of the Year
Patriots QB Easily Outdistanced Roger Federer

Much to his team-first attitude's chagrin, the honors continue to accumulate for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as the Associated Press named Brady the AP Male Athlete of the Year.

Here are the write-ups in the Boston Herald and The Boston Globe.

Brady received 51 votes, 18 more than second-place Roger Federer, the pro tennis player who dominates his sport and who won three of his sport's four major tournaments this year. Third was Tiger Woods, followed by Peyton Manning, Barry Bonds and pitching ace of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, Josh Beckett.

Ladies pro golfer Lorena Ochoa, who won eight tournaments including the Women's British Open, won the AP Female Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.

Earlier this week, The Sporting News named Brady their 2007 Sportsman of the Year. The Patriots posted a release on the team's official site.

Even better: the year Peyton Manning
finally "wins" a Super Bowl, Brady proves he is still better than Manning.

Whatever happened to .. ?
Remember those people who said Tom Brady was in for his worst season ever because of his breakup with Bridget Monyahan? Remember how they said he didn't care about football or his family or his teammates? Remember how they said Gisele Bündchen would be a constant distraction to Brady and would ruin the Patriots' season? I wonder why they've been so quiet.
