Patriots match Broncos offer to punter Sauerbrun
Patriots Match Offer to Punter
Broncos Tried to Lure Sauerbrun
The Boston Globe and Boston Herald are reporting that the New England Patriots will match a deal the Denver Broncos offered punter Todd Sauerbrun.
This is kind of a no brainer with the luck the Patriots had with their punters last year. Sauerbrun did a pretty darn good job down the stretch (2 games) and in the playoffs (3 games), averaging 43.7 yards per punt with four inside the 20. Including incentives, the deal could be worth up to $1.4 million.
Both papers are also reporting that Patriots cornerback Randall Gay visited the New York Jets training facility but left Long Island without a deal.

Apparently not
Of course, with the Pats' luck, Sauerbrun will get hurt in week 2. Maybe Miller will come back then.

Agreed: Roster spot and injury
You'd have to think a shoulder injury (the injury that sent him to injured reserve last last November) wouldn't be a career-ender, but maybe there's a physical issue?
I have a hard time questioning their judgment. They don't make many mistakes. Whatever the reason, there is a reason.
