Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady No. 9 player of the last 25 years?

Since the Colts fans in our discussion love to point out what other people say as proof as their own convictions, USA Today is naming the top 25 players of the last 25 years. (They're currently up to No. 8.)

Tom Brady is No. 9.

Peyton Manning? He's No. 12.

But I'm sure some young, enterprising Colts fan will provide and excuse for it or belittle USA Today and say they're not qualified to make such a list.

Update [2007-7-12 15:42:2 by tommasse]:
My mistake. Skin Patrol of SB Nation's Washington Redskin's blog Hogs Haven kindly corrected me in the comments section. USA Today's series is the best 25 players of the last 25 years, not of all time. This note is so that his comment makes sense now that I've changed the post's title. Anyway ...

All time?
The USA Today List you link to is the Top 25 NFL players of the past 25 years. Clearly, Sammy Baugh is a better quarterback than Tom Brady.

I think the line on
the Patriots/Redskins game on October 28th is Patriots by 10.5.

Tousche Las Vegas... so you're saying we have a chance!

Tom Brady is a better QB than Peyton Manning...
So how many points are they going to spot him on November 4?

Clearly, the offseason is too long. Let's play some football!

Really, who needs this 'baseball stuff' anyway?
You don't see the NFL taking a break in the middle of the season to play their regular pansy game.

A list from a real football site

Check 21 for their discussion of QBs.
Brady is left off because he's only played 6 seasons. That's why I don't think he should be as high as he is on USA Today's list. At the end of Brady's career he could definitely have earned that spot but to put a player with half a career in the top 10 players of the last 25 years is premature. I would even be fine with Manning further down the list if time played was their reason.

What did I tell you?
A "real" football site, he calls it. So predictable on top of everything else.

And Brady wasn't included because he hasn't played 100 games. I didn't see anything about 6 seasons. That's kind of SnB's calling card.

And, as for those 90-plus* games Brady's played, those are regular season. They're not counting his 12-2 playoff records. Seems kind of arbitrary. Personally, I don't know how you talk about the greatest players and not count playoff games. I think they "found a reason" to leave him off because it made their decisions less complicated.

* Brady has played 96 games, officially. One at the end of his first "season" in which he threw three passes in garbage time of one game. Another would be the game he came in for the injured Drew Bledsoe. Discounting those (since they're not starts) and adding in his 12-2 playoff games, Brady has played 108 games.
