Open Thread: New England Patriots vs. New York Giants, Preseason Week 4

Last Chance to Impress Coaches
Final Preseason Game Usually a Yawner

The last preseason game is reserved for the starters to do nothing more than warm up a little and for all the bubble players to make their final impressions on the coaching staff before cut decisions are made in the ensuing 48 hours.

I agreed to take part in Josh's fantasy football league and the draft is tonight. The starters will be on the sideline before we begin, but Josh just drafted me last night, and I'm completely unprepared. (Yeah, I'm already making excuses for getting pummeled.)

I'll try to keep an eye and ear on the game, but there are probably only a handful of jobs up for grabs. More likely, there are guys trying to get kept on the practice squad, where they'll gain experience and be ready to step in should any of the "keepers" get cut or injured later on (or get scooped up by another team).

Enjoy the game.

The only pre-season game...
broadcast in my area, and I have to prepare for a presentation I have tomorrow. I'll still watch the game while I work though. In fact Merriweather just made a nice play to break up a pas over the middle. The Giants converted on 3rd down though.

Goal-Line D
After a long drive, the Giants had a 1st and goal at the 1 yard line. A missed pass, and two stuffs at the line, and it's 4th and goal.

5th Down
The Giant got the TD, partly due to the extra chance they got after an offside call on Wilfork on 1st down.

No Brady
Cassel gets the start. I guess Brady looked good enough last week to make any tune-up tonight superfluous.

Mills in the flat
Cassels hits Garrett Mills for a nice 8 yard opening play.

Group Sack
On 3rd down, both Giants DE's blew past their respective OT's, giving Cassel no chance to throw it away.

Turnabout's fair play
Unless it's a personal foul. After getting Manning sacked, a Giants OL pushes someone late and tacks on another 15 yards.

All the sub's are in
And I have to concentrate on work. If anything interesting happens, I'll post it in the comments.
